DS soars online but games aren't coming

The Nintendo DS handheld currently has three games that utilize the free wi-fi service: Mario Kart DS, Tony Hawk's American Sk8land, and Animal Crossing: Wild World. The next game set to use the network is Metroid Prime Hunters due in late March of 2006.

From the article: "Outside of Nintendo's in-house games, though, there's little to keep DS owners online. Activision has scored a hit with Tony Hawk's American Sk8land, but apart from that there are no confirmed third-party games from that let DS owners go online."

With such recent success of the free service, why would developers outside of Nintendo be hesitant to use the connection?

1. If Nintendo can give developers the support they need (like MS does with LIVE) then we should see tons fo games.

2. Admittedly, there was a good number of 3rd party games on that wi-fi enabled list put out awhile back. Who knows when they'll actually be released... if even at all outside of Japan in some cases.

5. I think Konami would have a huge hit on their hands if they made their next DS Yu-Gi-Oh! game WFC-capable.

6. If Nintendo don't keep the games coming solidly, it'll eventually flop. I hope they don't give up support after the first few games like they did for the GC Broadband adapter for Linkup gaming�

7. I'm already planning to live online when metroid prime hunters is out. Too bad EA doesn't have WFC support for the 007 series, that would draw a crowd.

8. I thought I read that Konami's Winning Eleven soccer game will be wi-fi. Count me in on that. Blows EA's FIFA off the pitch.
