Straight from the pages of a new Famitsu issue comes this gobsmacking black beauty--or is it just that tricky paintjob on the Enamel Navy unit fooling us again? Regardless, we're still betting on that color showing up at the Lite's North American launch.
Anyone care to translate that text for us? We'll pay you in red herrings.

That's the most frightening advertisement I've ever seen in my life.
Is that a remote-controlled stack of money?

It's clearly a Navy unit (easiest to see on the lower half).
That said, if the Navy color-changes so often depending on lighting conditions, that might be the one to go with. It's pretty neat.

As I explain that on my DSlite blog, it's just a prize to win for the "golden week contest", but nothing about a black ds lite, just a bad picture.

I decided to find out on my own what the facts are. I loaded the full image in gimp, and adjusted ALL color levels down to a very small range. This is the result. This is scientifically sound.

Notice how the bike seat (True black) dissapears, but the DSLite has more blue in it so it shows blue.

Every time I see this picture, I can't help but think "man, I want a remote-controlled stack of money". That is goofy to an amusing degree.

That's a blue, no doubt about it. I opened up PS and used the "Eyedropper Tool" and it registered as a dark blue. I was really hoping for a black Lite. :(

Translation for you - i think this is a contest because those pink letters are for numbers of people
Number 13 on this page is the nintento DS treasure box and it's going to 4 lucky people. it will include animal crossing, tetris ds, mario kart, one that i can't read, children of mana, some strategy game that's called "Ees Strategy,"
old people ds traning game, another one called "mistake musem." the last game listed is called "where do babies come from?" No joke. I wonder if that will make it stateside.
then is says in the blue text you all want it and you can get it here
number 14 is the nintendo ds lite, which will go to two lucky people
"this is the chance to get the hit games in the world"
There is no mention of color.

Ha, "it's clearly blue", "I used the eyedropper tool!", "I adjusted the color levels!"
Too funny. Every school kid who downloaded photoshop off the internet is an expert in color. The bike seat is "true black"? This is simply a poor scan. You don't have Famitsu's original digital photography (or high-res scan), so you can't know for sure.
Those of you who think it's "clearly blue" likely don't have a properly-calibrated monitor. There's nothing definite about it.
The only clear thing about this image... is that it is a poor, poor scan. Those of you still hoping for a black ds can still hope.

That's correct. 'Akachan wa koko doko' (not sure I spelled that correctly) or 'Where do babies come from?' is 'Rub Rabbits'.
As for the "black" DSLite. I think it's fairly obvious after I heard it was a Golden Week promotion ad. I doubt Nintendo would promote a new color like that. It's probably just the Navy one.

Deth - You're not wrong. It's the sequel to 'Feel the Magic XX/XY', which was called 'Project Rub' in a few other places (here in Australia included). Confused yet?

Damn right jV!
and even if the original photograph showed up with a blue tint, doesn't it mean it's not black. The photograph might just have a very slight blue cast over it.

Nintendo is clever. I'm'a thinkin' that the only way to get a black DS will be to get it in a bundle (possibly w/ new super mario bros.).
Just my theory.
