At the bottom of a GamesIndustry.biz story about some PS3 game (Metal ... something) failing to sell PS3s in the UK, we found news of how those new, Europe-only DS colors had fared in Britain.
And here's a surprise: Chart-Track (the company tasked with the exhausting job of tallying how many copies of Brain Training sell each week in Europe) has revealed that while the swish new red, turquoise, and green models had a "massive impact" on sales, none could dislodge the current top-seller, which is ... black. How boring!
Despite being the most delicious of all DSes, the red version could only come in second, and was followed by pink, white, turquoise, green and silver respectively. Sadly, Chart-Track doesn't dispense actual sales figures, but come on, Brits! Show some adventure in your choice of DS colors! Be crazy and live life on the edge like us!

I can see how black could win (I own an Onyx DS Lite myself [it's shiny & sexy]), but yeah, it would be nice to see Europe appreciate the new colors.
If I were buying a new DS Lite in Europe (as a first-time buyer), I would probably pick up Red, since outside the exclusive Japan Post Red DS Lite, Red is currently exclusive to Europe.
If my DS Lite ever breaks, I'm gonna looking into importing the Red from Europe. But where does one go to import from Europe to the U.S. ???
Peace.

A European store?

Even with the markup by Playasia, it would probably be cheaper to get it from Playasia, due to shipping (I live thousands of miles away from Europe).
Besides, does a European store even want my dollars? Model Gisele Bundchen refuses to accept payment in dollars. Apparently, she will accept just about any other currency. LOL

Now that I think about it, probably Playasia.
Import to the U.S. from Europe via Hong Kong.
Does the DS Lite get frequent flyer miles. LOL.
Peace.

I really want a Red DS Lite, but my parents won't let me get one. It's so delicious... the best I'm going to get is an Apocalypse Red skin for my white DS Lite. I hate white, after seeing the red. After this, I'm going to wait a few years to see if a red version of anything comes out.

I still stand by my statement that the Red DS is one of the uglier colours. >.>

The red is way too distracting. I think my eyes would hurt after a while. I think i'll just stick to good old subtle white.

White would be my last choice.
According to some pictures I've seen online, white tends to turn yellowish if you don't take care of it.
Black or red is never going to turn yellowish.
Plus, the red is like a Ferrari Red. A nice looking red.
Also, I'm a winter, and the other 2 colors are outside my color palette. :)
Peace.

I'm firm in the belief that black and matte are THE optimal choices for anything surrounding a screen. Black reflects the less, and matte is less shiny, so both are great for keeping your eyes on the screen. White is too damn bright, and the other colors are just distracting (or so I'd think; haven't had any experience with 'em, really). Dark colors are good, especially in a dark room, so that you see the screen above all else, not what's framing it. This is one of my laments for PSP, since I'd like one, but the black ones on't come with any goodies, costing me more to furnish myself with the, well, best color or a portable system.

I really want green. Unfortunately, after getting a navy DS Lite only a few months ago it looks like I'll have to wait (don't think I can just sell this off at GameStop because it's a Chinese model).

I want one of these, but I don't know of any UK stores that deal in gray exports. All the information I find is written for Europeans importing from the US or Japan, not Americans who want something from Europe.
The obvious retailers like Amazon UK refuse to ship electronics overseas.
Anyone?
Crossing my fingers for a US release of these colors in the meantime. Come on, Nintendo. At least the red.
