Assassin's Creed confirmed for DS, release in February

It's our turn for the big news today, after Nintendo's US press conference, and Assassin's Creed for the DS is leading the pack. Jade Raymond's action-oriented historical quest has been rumored for the handheld for months, but a huge list of upcoming Nintendo releases confirmed the title's existence. In what form, we cannot yet speculate, but suffice to say that we're hoping for the best rendition Ubisoft can squeeze out of a pair of screens, and not some minigame-fueled spin-off.

Lesson: apparently, we should really, really listen to GameStop-fueled rumors, because they are so often true.

DS releases for the week of February 26th

Hate to be the one to break it to the U.S. gamers, but ... there are no DS games this week. Let us all weep in unison, and then raise our fists in protest.

Then again ... if there's nothing new this week, we can spend precious time finishing up some of those neglected titles that we haven't yet touched! Quick, everyone, start unwrapping. Ready, set, play!

For the rest of the globe, hit the jump.

DS releases for the week of February 19th

A lot of gaming goodness is about to be unleashed this week -- if we had to name this week for releases, we'd go with something clever, like Simbacube: Legend of the Unemployed-OMG Sim City DS in Japan!

How's that for a name? Bit of a mouthful, but it's accurate. While we're struggling to decide where to spend cash this week, we'll surely have new Sim City DS info to tide us over, and that always makes for a good time.

DS releases in the US
  • F-24 Stealth Fighter
  • Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja
  • Meteos: Disney Magic
  • Micro Machines V4
  • Trioncube

IGDA to honor Miyamoto's lifetime achievements

Next month's Game Developers Choice Awards are set to feature someone very close to our hearts. Shigeru Miyamoto, the daddy of all good things Nintendo, is going to receive this year's Lifetime Achievement award. The official announcement lauds Miyamoto's two decades of contributions to Nintendo, highlighting his involvement in all the best games ever. Previous recipients include Yuji Naka and Will Wright, and while they're great and all, frankly we're surprised they don't hook Miyamoto up with this award every year.

DS releases for the week of February 12th

After last week's flood, it looks like DS owners are back down to a trickle of releases, but importers take note -- there's all sorts of hotness in Japan this week. The three Japanese releases are definitely games to watch. While we drool and dream over those, gamers in Europe can finally get in on some 3-on-3 basketball action, Mario-style.

DS releases (US)
  • F-24: Stealth Fighter
For the rest of the world, check after the jump.

DS releases for the week of January 29th

We should call this the 'Where's the DS?' edition, because if you're on our side of the world, you're pretty much out of luck. There are no U.S. releases this week for the DS. We figure that's okay, since we're all still playing Hotel Dusk anyway. But there's plenty in store for gamers elsewhere ... check it out after the jump.

But while we're sitting here, gameless and weeping, we'll go ahead and ask about those of you who are still looking for a DS. Any luck lately on fulfilling your desires?
