Momotaro joins the Zombie BBQ

As if it wasn't enough that we'd get to play one pissed-off Red Riding Hood (she's armed and out of control!) in the forthcoming Zombie BBQ, publisher Gammick Entertainment has announced a second playable character: legendary Japanese hero Momotaro. Once you take the reins of one of these epic characters of folklore and fable, you'll be pitted against such enemes as UNDEAD GRETEL and PESTILENTIAL PINOCCHIO.

If there's a line for this game, you can expect that we'll be first. Zombie BBQ sounds too hilarious to be missed. It looks it, too; check out the screenshots below if you're not convinced.

Momotaro Dentetsu goes online, stays in Japan

The latest in Hudson's long-lived Momotaro Dentetsu (Momotaro Railroad) series of travel-themed board games features similar components as its predecessors: locations based on Japanese geography, Monopoly-style property acquisition gameplay, and a familiar (to Japan) cast of wacky characters loosely based on the traditional Japanese Momotaro story (but with more trains).

But Momotaro Dentetsu 20th Anniversary also brings a significant new aspect to the series: online play. Taking the beloved board game and putting it online is a great way to celebrate a milestone! The new game will be out in Japan this December, and, given the history of the series, we're pretty sure that's where it will stay.

Subtle limited-edition DS Lite from Hudson

Hudson's Momotaro Dentetsu series of video board games (think Mario Party) has always been popular in Japan. It's so popular, in fact, that it justifies limited-edition hardware. That's a little unsettling, to us. It's hugely popular, but has never been released outside of Japan. Of course, Japan needs limited-edition DS Lites-- and all DS Lites, more than we do. Maybe this will add to the total supply.

This DS Lite comes packaged with Momotaro Dentetsu DS Tokyo & Japan, and features very small character portraits and the series title on the top of the system. It's a very restrained approach to the special edition system, which contrasts to the recent BeDazzling approach. Check after the break for a closeup of the system!
