Whether or not I'll buy it depends on what the actual product turns out to be. Rumors have been flying around for a while and at this point I don't know what to expect. Multimedia functions aren't likely to sway me, though.

I guess it's time to upgrade from my reliable DS Phat

Well, if it doesn't have a graphics processor upgrade, meaning if it's not a new system with new games... No!

Funny how ppl are complaining about the new features and yet every1 was so excited when the ds lite first came out. What did the ds lite bring? Smaller size? New brightness setting? larger stylus? ZOMG! We're talking about a camera that may be used during gameplay (yes i know Sony came up with it and now MS is copying them) and music playback but compare that to a BIGGER STYLUS >_> I say bravo to Nintendo because it puts them in a better position to compete with Apple, who obviously wants a slice of Nintendo's pie. I'll probably buy it but I need to have a look at it first.

I think part of the problem was that rumors have been swirling around for so long about a DS upgrade and the features that comes with it that anything short of a 3D Holoprojector would make people vaguely disappointed.

Assuming that my Lite doesn't get run over the same day this is launched or something...no, not really, I'm not interested. It's not sounding like a new system, and I generally like to wait for a...for lack of a better term...proof of concept game to roll along before I drop my money on a new console. You know. Some game which really sells me on the system and its features.
That being said and done, if this new DS is real, and if it has a durability upgrade over the Lite with buttons and the like, I can see myself getting it eventually.

I just bought my DS Lite (upgraded from original) a few months ago. If I want music I'll use homebrew.
Camera doesn't seem that useful, and definitely not worth buying all over again.

The DS doesn't need a camera. I don't know what it is about small gadgets these days and the need to pretend they can do everything. If you want a good camera, get a real camera. The more time they spend on additional "features" the less time they're spending on what the system was meant to do -- play games.

it really depends for me. i got my ds over a year ago and it is already almost completly broken but still playable. if it has new gameplay then yes otherwise, maybe in a year or two when my current one is completly destroyed.

I WAS thinking about getting a second DS so when my stepson is in town (his mom won't let him take his DS with him) we can play together. So if the price is decent, I'll get one. Not the moment it hits the stores though.
If the price of the lite drops drastically, however, I'd just get another lite.

If it's just a Camera - No.
If it's bigger and improved screens - possibly
If Nintendo somehow, someway has actually kept all R&D silent for the development of a whole new platform that they plan to "Flash release", I will eat my shoe.

To put it short: no.
I just bought a DS Lite about a week and half ago, so I don't really see the use of buying another one. I already have an mp3 player and I plan to buy a replacement digital camera.

No. My DS is 3 years old, and I just bought a PSP.
I'm not buying any hardware for another 6 years at the least.

I'd like to see some of the Wiimote functionality show up in a next-gen DS. More RAM, accelerometers, and a rumble function would all be things that could (with a firmware assist) enhance existing games as well as enable a lot of new games. Bluetooth functionality could not only let you use a cordless stereo headset; imagine a game that used the Wii Fit balance board as an extra input device!

I've already got an iPhone which I love, and my DS is not even a year old after replacing the white one I broke which was a Phat trade in. I don't need the new rumored one.

I still have my Phat, so it's gonna take new hardware for me to upgrade. If the rumors are true, I'll be sure to get my hands on it at launch.

I don't think so....unless this has improvements to the actual gaming system, and then it would be a next generation DS. So unless it's the next DS, I don't need a DS lite with a camera and an mp3 player, since I already have those, and I would much rather spend more on the actual games then another system.
If it is the next DS, I will probably wait awhile, because the current DS still has 3rd party support. So the games will still be coming ^^
