Regardless of whether you like the newly announced DS Lite or not, one thing's for sure, it will sell units. The question then becomes, just how many can the iPod-inspired Lite sell? And would a match in Micro sales be a success in your eyes?

3. I was wavering on buying one, but the look of the device put me off. It currently looks like a cheapo LCD game off the local car boot - the redesign has closed the deal.
So that's one sale. Once I get one, other people will see how good it is and want one too!

4. I'll probably get one as well, and a friend wants one too.
If the NDS Lite doesnt sell itself, it certainly will help boost sales of the 'old model', because of the price drop that'll certainly happen.

5. I'm definately picking up one. I think it's going to sell really well because its "the latest thing" along with being a DS.
I'd still like to see one that looks like a Game-and-Watch!

6. The DS Lite it´s inspired on the RS controller, not on the iPod.
All three have the same cristal style, that´s all.

7. Apart from white this does not look like an iPod. Apple wasn't the first company to put white on an consumer electronic product nor was it the first to introduce the concept of 'minimalist' products.

8. Did the screen size change from the first one?

9. Shocking! People buying/not buying the DS due to it's hardware design? And not because of ergonomics but aesthetics? Sheesh.
Handling perfectly and having almost TOO MANY must-have games doesn't enter into it, eh?

10. "If the NDS Lite doesnt sell itself, it certainly will help boost sales of the 'old model', because of the price drop that'll certainly happen."
That's quite a stretch, since the Lite has a higher price in Japan than the standard DS. I would guess that the DS is going to stay at $129, with the Lite at $149 (both US$). After all, they brought the Micro out for $20 more than the SP, didn't they?

11. If only they could include WPA support for wifi, I would be all over this!

12. They simply won't be able to build them fast enough!

13. I'm thinking that the new one looks pretty flimsy--sure, the original DS (I love mine) looks pretty Fisher-Price, but the new one looks like one of those bootlegs that lets you play a Street Fighter "game" on a tiny monochrome LCD "screen".
I'll have to see it in person and give it a whirl before I'll consider replacing my DS. A smaller size would be nice, but if it's as breakable as the iPod Nano, why spend the money?

14. The look of the light resembles greatly the look of the ....wait for it ..... revolution controller. ..sigh... It really doesn't resemble an ipod at all.

15. it just doesn't feel very nintendo. the only thing to recommend it over the original DS is a brighter screen - it isn't significantly light enough to make it an essential replacement, and the form factor lacks the kind of ergonomic whimsy we associate with ninty's 3D design. I don't think the thinness will make it easier to play games. i mean how thin must the shoulder buttons be? i'm sure the final product will satisfy, but i'm happy with my big ol' electric blue wonder.

16. As long as I can still use homebrew on the DS lite: sold.

17. I will probably keep my original DS (with classic NES skin) until we see a black DS Lite, then I'll upgrade. Many of my friends who were thinking about getting a DS for all the cool games, but thought it was ugly/bulky, have said that they will probably get the DS Lite once it comes out here. Sales will be good.

18. I'm not buying one, because I already have a DS, and this isnt enough of an improvement to warrant the purchase. But I do strongly believe it will outsell the micro.
First, it is "sexier" (but personally, I like the currrent model better).
Second, GBA was on its downswing when the micro was released. The release was not advertised much, and obvously overshadowed by the release of NWFC and Mario Kart, Tony Hawk, etc. The DS, however, is on it's upswing, with a crapload of quality titles every month. Plus, the lite will be heavily advertised (at least by Nintendo standards) because it is obviously intended to be a stab in Sony's back. The GBM was more of a lackluster attempt to prolong the life of a dying console. We shall see in coming months...

1. IMO, its going to be gangbusters. The thing will far outsell the Micro, and the DS for that matter. The DS Lite will become the dominating handheld, much like the SP has been.
