Further evidence has sprung up that seems to support the public's case against Capcom, the company that now stands accused of discontinuing hilarious courtroom adventure Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. A quick look at the game's Amazon page reveals that it has officially jumped into that dreadful "rare" category, resulting in ridiculously high prices and the deep sense of regret at not buying it when it just came out.Phoenix Wright is currently fetching prices between $60 and $100 on Amazon. That's not right. However, Ebay prices seem to be much more reasonable, hovering just over $40 the last time we checked. We also tried to find the game at Game Quest Direct (they sell new copies of out-of-print games) but our efforts were met with an Out of Stock notification and a disturbing, menacing laugh. But then, that might just have been the recording of a disturbing, menacing laugh we have constantly looping in the office. It's fundamentally motivational.
So, are you willing to pay out the nostrils for Phoenix Wright, or do you know of a place that has reasonably priced copies? Please let us know.
[Thanks James B!]

This is such a shame, I've been wanting this game for quite a while. Unfortunately I did not have a DS yet when they discontinued it, and now I may never get it for a reasonable price.

I searched Game Stop website and they have it used for $19.99 Back Ordered. But if you check store availability a few stores in your area may have a copy. Thats how I got it about a month ago for $19.99

Yeah, the gamestop website is pretty genius in this regard. Luckily I live in Dallas where there is a gamestop on every corner - so I have a feeling this is going to be the only way I'll find my copy...

I got it about 3 weeks ago for $25. It's fantastic, so far... definitely not trading it in now.

According to Play.com, it's still due to be released in the UK around 1st July 2006!! I don't think it has been taken off shelves, but probably Capcom didn't anticipate the game would sell so well so didn't cater for demand.
One has to realise that this was originally a GBA game called Gyakuten Saiban which is in its 3rd outing right now in Japan, so is extremely popular...
I'm sure Capcom must know what they are doing...

I found this game used over the weekend at a local CD/Game Exchange for $15! Apparently they don't keep up with the current pricing trends.

*whew*! Good thing I already snagged one. Kinda saw this coming. Now, I just have to save my pennies to buy that trainwreck of a soon-to-be-discontinued-I'd-bet-a-shiny-nickel game, Trauma Center. =)

I think I'll definately pick it up now. I was at a Blockbuster Gamerush location yesterday and they had 3 used copies for 24.99. Guess where I'm going today...

I've been eyeing this game for a while now... heard only good things about it but just havent had time for any new games right now (new baby = less play time and I'm still working through Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time!) But knowing this game is discontinued now, I may have to swing by my local EB - I saw a used copy on the shelf for ~$20-$25 a week or two ago, if online prices are going through the roof I'll have to snag this now before I can't afford to if it's still sitting around.

Are they going to force us to play this via ROM? That's sad. This is a really good game; I don't see any reason to discontinue it.

what about Trauma Center? I bought it used because I couldn't find it new. Has it be DC'd?

I bought this game new, 3 days ago at Blockbuster/Gamerush for 30 bucks. But...well, I live in a small town, and all focus is put on the PSP when it comes to handhelds here, so the greatness of Phoenix Wright was probably unknown to most.
