First Nintendo wifi RPG title

Lost Magic
, the first online RPG for the Nintendo DS, now has its own gaming hub on Nintendo's official wifi connection site. The title which will be released on March 20 will allow you to "create new characters and challenge friends" over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. This is very exciting news for both DS and RPG fans.

What multiplayer game mechanics are you hoping for in this, and any subsequent online RPG's for the DS?

[Thanks, TheMayor]

wow, awesome.

i only hope it gives you the opportunity to mix with random online people, without seeking them out. random groups of online people would be nice.

do we know if it's anything other than a wifi battle mode or something? ;p. *waits for site to load*

"Two players may connect via Wi-Fi to pit captured beasts against each other to determine who owns the best monster."

Well, it could be talking about local multiplayer, but I bet that just about sums up the entire online component as well. (prove me wrong?)

As for future online RPGs, I think we'd all like to have an online adventure rpg where you interacted with other players. It might be technically infeasible, but meh :).

This is good news just due to the fact that a new RPG is coming to the DS. Online mode doesn't sound too groundbreaking..

I played this game when the Japanese release came out. I don't know if there's an option to change the movement type, but by default you have to tap your character and tap the ground to move. If you want to move your character multiple times, you have to tap him each time you want to move because it deselects your character after you tell him where to move. The D-pad is mapped to scroll the screen. It's very annoying.

The online component is simply a battle mode, so you can forget about any Phantasy Star Online-like adventures with others.

On another note though, this means that 3 Wifi games will be released on the same exact date, the two others being Tetris DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters. I foresee DS sales going through the roof in all countries come that date.

Why all countries, Ranma? Those are just NA release dates.

Oh this sucks! Why did they have to release MPH and this on the same date?

Now I'll have to wait around a month to pickup Lost Magic :(

I like the fact that this is character movement requires touch. Very PC-ish...

As far as future online RPG's for the DS, give me a PSO themed Diablo-like MMORPG and I'll be set for life.

At the risk of incurring endless scorn, I am hoping for Pok?n Diamond/Pearl WiFi - IF they find a way to keep Sharkers either off or separate from honest players. The game practically begs to be played with dozens of people, but unless I intend to drop by a middle school instead of going to work one day, I'm stuck with only two possible opponents anytime Nintendo isn't on tour.

If and when Final Fantasy Tactics DS comes into being, I hope that they have WiFi multiplayer that is better implemented than the monster hunts in FFTA.

its tight gameplay design makes it hard on one hand (at first), but very rewarding on the other hand to really get to the bottom of it. I'm glad to see it getting an official release on this side of the world.

Expect some challenge and possibly frustration at first, but that's a sign of its depth in the end.
