Fake DS as seen in Crete

As snapped by a flickr user, this picture of a DS knock-off for sale in Crete is nothing short of hilarious. Do people actually fall for this? Does it come with a copy of New Super Mario Sisters?

For a bootleg it looks incredibly convincing at a first glance. I wonder what games are built in and how much it retails for.

Remember the popstation plus video?

The same guy did a video about the Neo double game as well, quite a while ago too. It's on youtube somewhere.

Both the Popstation and NEO Double Games are made by the same company.

Here is a video review by the same guy who reviewed the Popstation.

This was reported on quite a while ago. Say months ago if memory serves.

Apparently these ripoffs are sold in fleamarkets in China and Spain.

Both the popstation and neo double games play the exact same games. Which are often defective so they don't play right or are so poorly designed and ugly you don't know what to do in the game.

A ten dollar black and white LCD game like you can pick up in Toys R' US has much better quality and you can actually play the game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popstation has more info on the popstation.

Amusing, but this knock off showed up shortly after the original DS was released in Nov 04. If I remember right, it's a blinking LCD type "game and watch" like thing. Poor unknowning Crete grandmas will be disappointing some children with this.

I've seen something like that (maybe the exact same thing) in Japan last year in the Hard-Off store in Kannabe.
It was 840 Yen and I was tempted to buy it, but rather than spending the money on total crap, I bought 2 Neo Geo Pockets, one defective white Sega Saturn and 3 Saturn games for the same price. I think I made the right joice. :)
