Now, whether this is misinterpreted information or the first signs of a re-issuing of these games with wi-fi compatibility is anyone's guess. What we wonder about, however, is if these games are re-issued, will anyone pick them up?

Probably not, unless Nintendo is offering at least $10.00 an hour to play Yoshi's Island.
I'm sorry, that game just felt too much like work.

They discovered the games were connected to Wi-Fi by the game code. If you look on a Game Card's label you'll see a code such as:
NTR-ADME-USA (Animal Crossing: Wild World US version)
NTR-AJUJ-JPN (Jump Ultimate Stars JP version)
Those first three letters in the second part (ADM, AJU, etc.) is the game code.
The two codes they found are AD2 and AYI. AD2 is definitely Nintendogs (just checked my copy of Chihuahua & Friends), but AYI is NOT Yoshi's Island DS. Its code is AYW.
AYI is actually Yoshi Touch & Go.

Not really. I liked yoshi's Island the first time I played through it, but it just wasn't worht it trying to find ALL the red coins AND the Baby Coin AND keep your Baby-Meter at 30 even through boss battles fro me to play through it again.

OBJECTION!
Run this link: http://www.nintendowifi.com/gaminghub/displayActivities.do?gameCode=AWI . The game code I used was AWIE, better known as Hotel Dusk, and there is no way Hotel Dusk could have a multiplayer mode.

@ConstyXIV:
While there may be an XML for Hotel Dusk, it doesn't show any connections.
Nintendogs:
http://www.nintendowifi.com/gaminghub/displayActivities.do?gameCode=AD2
Shows six connections on Sunday, August 26th.
Yoshi Touch & Go:
http://www.nintendowifi.com/gaminghub/displayActivities.do?gameCode=AYI
Shows four connections on both Sat/8/25 and Sun/8/26.
It's definitely an interesting development.
