We love the Tokyo Game Show, if only because it gives us a valid excuse to talk about
Bangai-O Spirits every single day. And
actual video of the game is an especially good excuse.
The video features the normal
huge, massive super attacks that are the game's trademark, but you'll also notice that new weapons, including a sword, are now available. How will super attacks work with the sword? No idea!
Another video features a strangely non-action-packed level that involves a
Sokoban-style box-pushing puzzle. It's a weird change of pace from the frenetic shooting-- so weird, in fact, that the player continues to fill the screen with missiles for no reason.
Even though
Bangai-O was originally an N64 game, we're
still amazed at how well
Bangai-O Spirits makes the transition to the DS. Thanks so much for making another sequel, Treasure. We know you don't really like doing that.

God I love those Japanese voice-over dudes. You just don't get that kind of voice work from English speaking, um, voice -over dudes.
Oh yeah, that game looks awexome cross too!

Hmm... This reminds me, I need to track down a copy of Bangai-O for Dreamcast...
I'm worried about the future of gaming. As systems get beefier and beefier, smaller developers get left in the dust. 3D has not been too kind for the guys at Treasure, what with their PS2 and GameCube offerings being... okay at best.

Wait did you say that Gradius 5 was 'ok' at best? Seriously? Crack much? Or what about Ikaruga? Now you must be cracking much.
Nah but seriously I never played a Treasure game that was in 3D. Not just using 3D graphics.
Oh and JC Fletcher, Treasure does not really have a problem with sequels. They used to awhile ago but fans plus the natural desire to make that 'chedda' has forced them to bring back games. Example being Guardian Heroes and Gunstar Heroes on the GBA (forgot their exact titles). So this is quite par for the course.
Oh yeah and this video made me cheer. I didn't see the character firing a gun though but DAMN that blue 'swatting sword' and super fast 'strider saber'are looking like twelve levels of hot fire.

3D Treasure games: Wario World, Stretch Panic... okay at best is accurate. Gradius V is wowowowow, though.
And yeah, I know they're doing more sequels now, including the Bleach one, but it still seems odd.
