The latest
Etrian Odyssey 2 screens from Famitsu reveal a few important tidbits. First, if you liked the first game, you're in for a treat. If, like so many others, you couldn't
find the first game, you're
really in for a treat. The latest info on the sequel reveals a lot of similarities to to the first, from party organization to map-making, and it's always nice to see the things that made a game stand out stay strong in the sequel. If you're looking for something different here, focus on the new classes, and the fun of auto-translating such things as what you're doing for the purpose of "Flying Castle."
Hit up Famitsu to see the rest of the shots for yourself! But be warned that they are
menu-tastic.

The original was great, seriously considering getting back into it.... only got down to level 9 or so before something happened that disrupted my gaming habits (Damn pokemon diamond and the 150 hours i'll never see again...)

If I recall correctly the first game had NO way to save during adventuring. You went into the "dungeon", moved around in slideshow-esque manner (a little behind the times but... ok), and if you died... OOPS, start from scratch! So you had to keep leaving every so often to go back to town to save. Plus the fights got really hard really fast. This really made the game tedious.
No save anywhere (especially on a portable system for crying out loud) = teh suck.
No thanks, not going to fall for that again.

2. That's done on purpose, the saving thing. If you could save anywhere it would greatly reduce the difficulty level.
It being portable does not really make a diff does it? I mean just close your DS and open it back up later. In the rare case you can't get back and save, you don’t have any warp stones to get back AND your low on battery, I guess you’re screwed then.
It is a throw back to RPG's of old, that’s why I love it!!
Can't wait for this!

I don't agree; I think the "you can't save here" feature was a bit rubbish. I'm playing Final Fantasy 3 right now and you can only save outside of towns - that is also a decent "you can't save everywhere" gambit without being tedious.
I think there could at least be some happy medium that would let you save if you had to use some resources and "made camp" or something in the dungeon.
