DS Daily: A few of your favorite (DS) things

What do you love when it comes to your DS? Maybe it's the particular color of your unit, or the headphones or stylus you use, or one particular game you keep returning to, over and over again, in between newer releases. Maybe you just like the way it feels in your hands. Either way, tell us about your favorite things, from accessories to comfort games.

The two things that I harp again and again to anyone willing are the absence of load times (which I cannot tolerate on every other platform) and the sleep-on-close. A game can be game-of-the-year worthy, it will get very little of my play time if it does not go to sleep when I close the upper screen.

1. Sleep-on-close.

2. The DS itself, particularly the color. (I imported an ice blue one when they were available, and it's still a conversation starter.)

3. A good mix of pick-up-and-play games, and games I can sit down with and play for hours. Sometimes a single game is both, even!

I'd say the ability to easily control RTS-type games like Revenant Wings. I really enjoy that game, and I don't think it'd be as fun on any of the consoles or PSP.

White LiTE, yellow stylus, wraparound headphones, Mario Kart DS, Gradius galaxies...

but my favorite part is my nakiworld comfort wing case. i don't think i would be able to play this tiny system without it.

That case is exactly what I've been looking for - thanks for turning my attention to it!

As far as what I love, I'll echo the previous posters - the sleep and resume feature is awesome.
GBA compatibility is also great since that's an entire generation of hand held games that I missed out on while I was in college.
Online play.
Homebrew is another great part of owning a DS - even if I run out of studio-released games (yeah, right) there's still a massive base of great home-made titles out there.

The backlit screen hands-down. For the first month I had my DS Lite, I had a smile on my face every time I remembered I could play games in substandard light. It was such a great feature that it even convinced me to buy a GBA SP so I could use the built-in light to play GBC games.

*sigh* I love you backlit screen.

I'll never stop playing Word Balloon and Rummy online on 42 ATC (Clubhouse Games). I got the game when it was released and even after having bought loads more games, I still play these two. I'm a stickler for Word Balloon tbrh T_T

The ability to play GBA games. I'm a tactical RPG nut and had a library of games in the genre before my SP and games were all stolen from my apartment. By buying a DS I was able to upgrade my system and replenish my library at the same time. I also love stylus controls in many games. It always starts a conversation when I play in public.

The styli! All the special promo stylusses that you get with pre-ordering, special events, accessory sets etc. drive me crazy, I must have them all... Of all my useless gaming adictions that I had over the years, this must be the best!

Absense of loading, battery life... I also like the way the clearcoat-over-white, or "polar white" DS looks. Very slick.

@gevenstaines I may have to look into that.
Whoever thought holding A, while pressing X and R in Mario Kart DS was in any way ergonomic was horribly mistaken.

Um hello... the touch screen. Out of everything on the DS, every game and feature, the one thing that keeps the DS fresh and playable time after time is the amazing control that I have in a game thanks to the touch screen. As developers keep finding new ways to use the touch screen (like Legend of Zelda) or refining previous methods (Call of Duty 4, Metroid Prime Hunters) I will keep playing my DS.
