Thanks to Alisha's helpful gift guide, you knew the perfect game to get for those not-so-special people in your lives this holiday season. Yet, while we just know that Hamsterz and the like are horrible, not many people who write for or visit this site can admit to actually playing those games. That's why we're asking today about the worst game you've played for the DS this year. We've heard about some games that you regret purchasing, but would you consider these games to be the year's worst for you, or just games not worth buying? And if you've somehow managed to successfully restrict yourself to good games, one of them still has to be the worst, so which is it? Still, we suspect that the majority of you have either bought, rented, or borrowed a title this year that was just downright awful, so out with it, please.

Of course the voice acting was horrendous. Did you ever play the original?

James, you should be more tolerant with other people's opinion, specially when they differ to yours. You don't look cool writing in all-caps, putting a period after each word. You, in fact, look like a fascist who can't write proper English.
IMO, and agreeing with "i like pie", Zelda: PH is a huge failure. It may not be the worst game on DS, obviously. We have gems like Ping Pals, Elf Bowling or Chicken Shoot, but it still is, IMHO, the biggest let down on the system. I can see why people like it, because it has "Zelda" on its title, but "i like pie" pretty much summed up very well some wrong points in this game. Remember: even if you love a game, many people don't. And you have to respect their opinion.
On topic, as I said, I dispise this Zelda, but Elf Bowling gets the gold. I just played it to see how bad it was, as I normally only get games that I know I'll like, and trust me, it is that bad.

this is very true, I personally enjoyed the game, but that is because I love the Zelda series, overall it is the WORST Zelda ever, but it had its moments none the less....

Out of the ones that I've actually bought, it was Rayman DS.
I stayed away from any other badly reviewed games after that.

I try to only buy games that I'm sure I'll like. I've enjoyed almost all of my DS games, at least enough that I don't regret buying them.
However, if I had to choose a game, I guess I'd say Nintendogs. It's just a horrible "game." At the time, people loved it because it was easily accessible and gave the DS a wider audience. I do respect it for that. However, it's just so bad. It's pretty much designed to only last a few days and then there's nothing else to do. In retrospect, it's kind of funny how it was lauded as a groundbreaking game. It's just that it's so short with so few features! Still, I could understand how some might have fond memories of Nintendogs.

rhythm and notes! Such garbage. "It's a music learning game with no actual musical notation! You lose!"

To add to my earlier post: RE:DS, Planet Puzzle League (I don't hate this game, but I expected more from all the hype), Thrillville, Theme Park, and a few more that have slipped my mind.

I'm with you. I hate PPL with a passion. It is the worst game on the DS that I've ever played. But then again, I generally buy a lot of really good games lol
The worst part? It is so "down there" that my local game store didn't even have it in their database, so I couldn't sell it to them for credit (-_-)

Death Jr and the Science Fair of Doom. I heard Death Jr was good on the PSP, and it had a cool preorder bonus. What a piece of crap.

I love Pokemon, but Pokemon Dash is the worst DS game I have played. You have to guide, Pikachu with the stylus through the proper path, over set points in the path until he gets to the end. It's not exciting, to say the least. It's not that hard, but it's awkward and pretty boring.

Lunar Dragon Song.
the only way you'll get me near it is if i get to pick it up using the fiery end of a blowtorch.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???
the game treats both screens as one, long screen (not unlike Yoshi's Island DS) but with a big difference, rather than compensate for the physical distance between the screens (like YIDS did). this makes it REALLY irritating when you're confused to high hell because the attacks you're doing are going all over the place.
ugh i can't type anymore about this waste of carbon.

yoiks that whole rant makes no sense.
suffice it to say in bulleted list form:
-graphics scaled by the system so they are ALWAYS ugly and broken.
-game pretends there is one long screen, not two.
-retarded gameplay, it feels like you get nowhere after long periods of play thanks to insane fetch missions that take FOREVER to complete.

For myself, it is a tie between Puzzle de Harvest Moon and Jam Sessions. Both I shelled out for preorder, both I bought on release day. Both I traded back after playing only a few hours.
The first is a minigame. Not a minigame collection --- a sole simple minigame, more based on dumb luck and scribbly wrists than actual strategy or skill. There were Warioware microgames that were more complex and fun than this. It is a boring minigame that sells for more than 30$. The second isn't bad per se, but I had it crashing on my DS (I played as a lefty, is it because of that?). Moreover, I had higher hopes, I found it rather a *chord* simulator than the *guitar* simulator I was hoping for. And I didn't think it sounded so good. I'd rather learn the real guitar.

this comment is two-fold. One is to address DSfanboys post about "Hamsterz and the like", the other is just informative about the game "Catz 2".
Yes I've played one of Ubisoft's Petz games, I even bought it(with a gift card that was a Christmas present).
It's really not bad. Decent graphics, with a wide variety of actions and movement for the fur balls.
There are conditions you need to meet to unlock certain toys, food, and clothing in the shop. You also have challenges and goals to meet to unlock more playrooms and shop items.
It's probably not too unlike Nintendogs.
I would say that it has a short lifespan. Completing the all the goals and tasks can be done in a matter of a couple sittings. Of course you have a variety of cats to choose from and each new one you adopt requires completing all the goals again. There are 3 "secret" cats to unlike, which I haven't yet.
It definately feels like a game for a younger audience. I think my 10 yr. old niece would get countless hours enjoyment out of it.
I noticed some glitches. The cat gets stuck on some corners and just keeps walking in place, some high platforms have them walking narrow paths and they can start walking on air beside the path. I thought it was all easily forgivable though.
At the heart of it, I think Ubi has a winner in pet games for how cute the catz look and act.
