Thanks to Alisha's helpful gift guide, you knew the perfect game to get for those not-so-special people in your lives this holiday season. Yet, while we just know that Hamsterz and the like are horrible, not many people who write for or visit this site can admit to actually playing those games. That's why we're asking today about the worst game you've played for the DS this year. We've heard about some games that you regret purchasing, but would you consider these games to be the year's worst for you, or just games not worth buying? And if you've somehow managed to successfully restrict yourself to good games, one of them still has to be the worst, so which is it? Still, we suspect that the majority of you have either bought, rented, or borrowed a title this year that was just downright awful, so out with it, please.

I also feel a bit of disdain for Phantom Hourglass. It's a great game of course, but I hate the thought that the touch-screen controls have been used not because they improve the gameplay but purely because they appeal to the casual gamers. If Nintendo is thinking this way when making games now then god help us all.
I can't help but feel that the game has been compromised, nay bastardised just to appeal to these bloody casual gamers. I mean, don't they get enough? Can't we have some franchises to ourselves? If casual gamers aren't into Zelda then sod them.
And as for the yelling and blowing into the microphone bits..... urgghhhhh, wretched.

Yup, I agree with everyone who said Lost Magic. Not the worst game ever, but our of my 38 DS games, that would be the worst.
I only buy games I know I'd like. Thought this would be one of them...severe disappointment :( The only diappointment in my collection. I'd sell it if I weren't so opposed to selling my games :P

Pssh, sell it to someone who likes it (hint hint)! Seriously, am I the only one who thinks this is a good game? -_- I must be a masochist or something.

i actually love Lost Magic, its a underated game in my opinion, i've caught every monster and leveled them to 50, i've maxed my rank on wifi to 3000 (with no cheating, like disconnecting) and i was one of the first to discover the Purge Magic glitch.

Alright, after reading through the comments, I have to say that this post proves one major point: Different strokes for different folks.
I was really shocked to see absolutely anyone say LoZ: PH on this post, and even more shocked to see how MANY people complained about it. Kind of depressing how many people hate Lost Magic, too (though you all already knew that from my replies =P).
I, however, stand by my decision as Planet Puzzle League as the WORST freaking game I have EVER played in my life. Argh. Hate. That. Game.
But...anyways, back to the point.....I think this post should inspire a new post: What *genre* do you love/hate the most? Because really, I think that's what this is all coming down to.l

I really don't understand how you can hate Planet Puzzle League that much. I got it for Christmas, and it's the damn most addictive puzzle game I have ever played. It has nice graphics, a nice set of features, and is nearly perfect (in my book).
But, whatever. Each one to their own.

Super Mario something. I forgot the name. I do not like nostalgic crap.
Pokemon Link was also unfortunate purchase. Later finding Zoo Keeper made me really regret buying that one.
[ Somewhere after that I got myself a R4DS - and my purchases became based on first hand experience with games. ]
Lost Magic also goes on the list of worst of purchases - since the game is only playable off R4DS with cheat to remove level time limit. I mean I bought just to buy it - since I play it off R4 and wanted to support DS' RPG producers ;)

I like Zelda! It's pretty cool. It can be a bit infruriating at times, but it's nice. For me, the games that I own that I like the least are Viewtiful Joe and FF3. D: Viewtiful Joe is a bet draggy but it's okay-ish. FF3 is so BORING. Gods alive. Very boring.

I'm probably going to be burned at the stake for this, but I'll say it:
Contra 4
Why? The hitboxes are OUTSIDE of the character's sprite. There's also that annoying gap between both of the screens. Almost all of the stupidest deaths I have ever had in all the games I've played come from this game. They're not even laughable.
Do you know what's much more fun than Contra 4? Syobon Action.

MLB 2K7 for the DS is the worst game ever released. I like 2K Sports, they consistently release better sports games than Electronic Arts. However, they somehow managed to make a baseball game that is completely inferior to the original RBI Baseball on the 8-bit NES. I'm not even sure how that is possible.

Wario: Master of Disguise.
Honorable mention also to Megaman ZX, I have missed a lot of the newer MegaMan games (on purporse, they really suck) and I was hoping that ZX at least was like the old X series. I was really disappointed.

I don't think I have any bad games for DS. The worst is probably Pokemon Pearl, which is still darn good. THe worst thing about it is that some of the new pokemon look horrible. Plus the fact that most of the conventions, which is the only way to get 3 of the new legendaries, are only held in places I can't get to.
I don't see what the problem with Phantom Hourglass. To me, it uses the DS to it's fullest, and there were some very interesting puzzles in there.
And to the comment about "use the item in the dungeon to solve the dungeon," the reason for that is that it teaches the person how to use the item. And although I was a little disappointed that they didn't include Pieces of Heart, at least they made an awesome multiplayer. I'm a big fan of wi-fi mode.

Then again, that's my opinion about LoZ:PH.
The other game I have that ties Pokemon is FFIII. I love it, but it has a few infuriating things, such as the fact that some of the weapons dont actually work for the classes that they're supposed to. also, the spell level thing could have used adjustment.

The DS game I own that I truly hate is Brain Boost:Beta Wave. Ugggh it is so cheesy. It looks like something made in basic programming with a little kid drawing the graphics. The only other game I'm not overly fond of is Yoshi's Island because I suck at it. LOL.

Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball DS
Terrible control, terrible graphics, terrible sound, terrible AI...and it wastes space on the cartridge with a Cypress Hill music video to open things.

I believe that there is no worst game for the ds because it depends on who is playing it. It might get the worst review but if someone plays it and they like it, then it is not a bad game to them.
