while I certainly enjoy unlockables in a video game, and the music of a game is a valuable contribution to the gaming experience, I never really bother with the jukebox feature in games.
with most of the games I play, the music is sort of like a condiment is to food - it lacks substance on its own, but when it accompanies the main course of gameplay with a side of graphics, it can add another layer of enjoyment to the experience.
the only game I've played with music that really struck me as something I could enjoy separate from the game was We Heart Katamari on the PS2, but i am afraid that listening to it during my morning commute could have disastrous results, as depicted at XKCD http://xkcd.com/161/ (completely safe for work)

I hate jukebox features. I find them completely useless. Give me more levels!
But hey, making the music available to play for those who do like it, go for it. Doesn't hurt anyone.
and: THAT VIDEO IS AMAZING!

Chrono Trigger's music changed my life. I actually imported the OST from Japan in the 90s. Other than that, use the extra space to give me another level or something useful to gameplay.

I would never utilize a jukebox feature on a game. What I would enjoy would be unlocking codes that I could use to download the music. That seems worthwhile to me.

I like having a jukebox feature. Some games have a few really good tunes that only play in a few areas, and i'd like to be able to listen to them again. I sometimes listen to the music player for a game I haven't played in a really long time and it reminds me of all the great things I did in that game.
I wish FF III had a music player, I really liked some of the music in it, and the previous GBA FF remakes had one, so why not FF III?

The Super Robot Wars series does have a jukebox feature included in the "Option" menu. The DS installment doesn't really have those special features, but allows one to listen to any song unlocked during the course of the game.

I prefer to listen to covers of game music if I'm not going to be playing the game. A jukebox feature for the orginals is nice and everything, but I'd rather play the game to listen, instead of just leaving my system on to some menu screen.

I greatly appreciate the jukebox features in games. When my iPod crashed and burned a year back I stuck Metroid Zero Mission into my DS and listened to the music as I went from class to class. It's a great way to get to know the songs in a game and find out which ones you like so that should your iPod become fixed you know which ones to download.
Also, to the people whining about "just put another level in", all of the sound files are already in the game, so they're not putting anything in except the program that calls up the files, which shouldn't take up that much space on a disk/cartridge. Besides, most games don't use up all the space they have available, so it's ridiculous to say that the jukebox feature is taking away from anything.

There's no sense not to have one. It probably takes a whole 5 minutes to code it in. Me? No. I haven't used it more than a few seconds to see what song I unlocked or whatever. I'm sure some people like it!

Whoa! I can't believe people are whining about this, as mentioned earlier, it doesn't take up much space and almost no coding at all. So why not? There is always somebody whom will utilize the feature. (Me for an example)
I don't know how much time I have listened to the music from Golden Sun: The Lost Age when I had my SP, probably more than I spent playing the game. (And that is A LOT)
I am one of those people that finds MP3 and iPod to be obsolete, I can't afford an iPod and all my Mp3 players breaks down in a matter of seconds. (iPods do too and don't deny it).
What the developers usually miss is the fact that if you close your DS, it will go into sleep mode, why can't they turn that feature off if you happen to listen to the jukebox in the game? And having the jukebox ingame? Why? (Think Hotel Dusk). And why have it as a secret feature?
In Golden Sun 2, you had to hold the L & R buttons while talking to a specific person.
Is it too much to ask for an option in the start menu? Is it too much to ask for no-sleepmode? Is it too much to ask for availability? Why? Why? Why?
Oh well, I have an R4 now so problem solved, all hail Moonshell and the internet.
*End rant*

I personally like jukebox features in games that deserve it, example: Eternal Sonata. I don't see why people assume "omg its using half my disc!", the music's in there anyway, there's code to play it anyway, all that a jukebox feature is a menu hardly 1 MB in size to play the music when the player chooses, as opposed to at trigger events in game.

Mother 3
Hotel Dusk (which was an actual jukebox)
Amazing soundtracks you don't even have to illegally download.

I love a jukebox feature in any game (DS, PC, duhr others)! Then again, the music can't be completely annoying either or it's a worthless feature. GTA has the best jukebox feature with the in-car radio and the add-your-mp3s station.
