If you ask us, Konami's Elebits is one of the Wii's truly underrated gems, so when we saw that a page for a sequel had appeared in the database of rental specialists Gamefly, we whooped, punched the air, performed chest bumps with one another, and said stuff like "OH YEAH!!" a lot. Then we calmed down, only to realize that Gamefly has Elebits 2 listed as a DS title, with a release date of August 30th! Cue further bumping of chests and abusing of the exclamation mark key!
Unless this is a simple error (and Gamefly is usually right on the money with these kind of things), we're dazzled by this development. Could a DS version of Elebits successfully recreate the wonderfully tactile sensation of chucking furniture about that was such a key part of the Wii title? Why, yes, we think it could!

First of all, thanks for reporting about this and bringing underappreciated games to people’s attention.
I'd be very happy about a sequel to Elebits. Kai (and Dewy's) colorful worlds are great, and so are Shingo Mukaitoge's games. They capture the essence of everything I like about 8bit and 16bit games.
But then again, I'm split:
I hoped for another Wii game. The first one only suffered from frame rate drops. That's all I wanted fixed for a sequel.
And now we might get a DS game instead of a Wii game.
Will this play just as well as the prequel? I don't think the DS is suited for Elebit's style controls (Elebits is still the best game in terms of Wii remote usage; perfect pointer controls long before Metroid Prime 3; it's impossible to port without heavy compromises)

yayyyyy I loved elebits (although, unlike buntaro I'm not a big fan of dewy's adventure) - how it will transition to the DS should be interesting!
My only problem with the original was that I could only play one or two levels at a time because of carpal tunnel / tendinitis.

I really hope that if it's for the DS, it's at least released simultaneously for the Wii. I know a lot of people find the DS to be great for FPS-type controls, but for me it just cramps my hand up. They need to make some kind of "FPS stand" for it.

I would love, love, love to see this one on the DS. *crosses her fingers*
It reminds me a lot of the Katamari games, not becuase of the playstyle, but because it's whimsical and sort of offkilter. *sigh* Still can't believe they scrapped Katamari on DS. Blah.
