DS Fanboy poll: Would you buy Puzzle Quest '1.5'?

The Nintendo DS has a long way to go before it can match the Xbox 360's online features and capabilities, but that doesn't mean we're any less jealous of the XBLA-only Puzzle Quest "1.5" add-on. In addition to a new story and arch-villain (Antharg, Lord of the Plague), the expansion pack will feature new spells, items, and quests. The upgrades we're extra envious about, though, are the new classes -- Bard, Rogue, Ranger, and Warlock.

Seeing as the DS edition of Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords doesn't allow for downloadable content, if the expansion pack were to come out for the DS, it would have to be on a new cart. We doubt D3 will bother with porting the game, but we're interested to find out if you'd buy a Puzzle Quest 1.5, provided that the game allowed you to migrate your old character, of course.

DS Daily: friend codes

We figured we'd jump right in to the big subjects here with DS Daily, so we're gonna point out the elephant in the room: friend codes. We love Nintendo like ice cream and all, but even we rabid fans can admit that the whole friend code system may not exactly be the best execution of online play ever.

Complaints we've heard include the chaos inherent in trying to get a big group of friends together at once, host and server issues, and just the general pain of keeping up with the codes in the first place. We had to compare our pristine selves to Microsoft, but as these things go, gamer tags are certainly easier to manage. Nintendo's overly complicated online system has definitely affected our Game Nights at times.

What's your take? Do you see benefits in friend codes, or obstacles? What changes would you like to see made?

September North American hardware sales

You wanted to see more sales numbers in North America and here they are, hot off the ... well, hot on your screen: hardware sales in North America for September. Guess who's in the lead?

Yeah. It's the Nintendo DS. That's right. We're not going to crack any little jokes about these numbers. We're not going to make up a story. We're just going to let the figures speak for themselves.

TOP SELLING HARDWARE (units sold)
  1. NDS - 403,435
  2. PS2 - 306,517
  3. 360 - 259,458
  4. GBA - 177,145
  5. PSP - 153,353
  6. NGC - 42,286
  7. XBX - 6,495
For the month, sales blew up when compared to this time last year -- to the tune of a 38% increase in units sold for the month. That's a sizeable jump, and industry analysts predict that this may be gaming's biggest year ever. We Nintendo fans are proud to be a part of that powerhouse expansion program.

Check after the jump for software sales numbers.
