A forum member at GSCentral claims to have already gotten offline Mario Kart DS tracks playable online. Follow the link for a video of the hack in action.
If true, why wouldn't Nintendo include all the tracks to begin with? Now all we need is instructions for the extra track goodness.

I have seen videos and stuff, but I havent played on the new tracks.
The reason they didnt allow the other 12 tracks, was because of possible netlag because of tons of moving objects.

Is there a way to prove that this person is actually online and not using the local link feature with someone else nearby? I've never played using local link, so I don't know if it looks different or not, since we didn't see him actually connect to NWC.

There are quite a few differences, for starters, there is a small "net lag" before the start of the race on NWFC, but not on Multiplayer.
Second, theres a video that shows him going through, turning on the NDS, going to Mario Kart DS, selecting NWFC, connecting, waiting for opponents, selecting tick tock, racing in it, along with the small lag before the race.
There are actually too many videos to prove this guy wrong, and the fact that over 40 people claim to have played him, its hard to forge 40 diff accounts. Well, not hard, just... not worth it.
Remember we are talking about the guy who hacked Mairo Kart Double Dash allowing us to play online.

I think it's rediculous that you can't play those boards online. Most of those you can't play are like the best tracks in the game. I really only play wi-fi now too after spanking the computer. So what's the point of having 32 tracks when you can only play half of them in the most fun mode anyway?

There was netlag, but some of the courses are buggy too -- falling through the floor, etc. Perhaps the homebrew community can patch them (hah right maybe if this was the PSP)

You dont fall from the floor, its just a visual glitch. You end up on the other side of the cannon on both Waluigi Pinball and Airship Fortress at the same time you would've on single player.
Its just a visual glitch, thats it.
