Is the South Korean MMORPG, Ragnarok Online, on its way to the DS? That's the question being asked over at the official Nintendo forums, as new scans from a Japanese mag have surfaced and seem to indicate that yet another online RPG may soon be joining the expansive DS games library.Though there's nothing shockingly original about Ragnarok Online, what with its high abundance of fantasy landscapes and pointy hats, it's hard to deny the appeal of a fully fledged MorePeeGee in portable format. Of course, with the current status of Nintendo's Wi-Fi service, one has to wonder what sort of monthly costs would be involved and how things such as content expansions (perhaps via the GBA slot) and server switches would be handled. For all we know, this potential version of Ragnarok may be greatly simplified - cooperatively online as opposed to massively online.
Does the idea of a MMORPG on the DS excite you, or do you simply flee in terror when faced with so many capital letters at once?

RO on the DS would be completely and utterly insane. At least if it's anything like the real thing, the addicts will wander the streets and see the light of day~

If I have to pay monthly for it, I'm not buying it. Instead, I'm pining for a review copy/account.

I've never gotten into a MMORPG but I'd definitely try it out if it came out on the DS; as long as there aren't any subscriptions to pay for.
I loved the original Phantasy Star games and PSO would be perfect for the DS.
I'd like to see more RTS titles too. Dawn of War would be preferable.

I've tried out ragnarok online and offline and i gotta say, THIS RUMOR IS SO FREAKIN AWESOMEEEEEE!!!!
I love ragnarok online! I hope this rumor is true!
I don't think it'll be online though. They'll probably just do multiplayer mode. If this game comes out, it'll be like ragnarok offline.

Im sure it won't be an MMO on the DS. its most likey just going to feature a large portion of the Ragnarok Online world within a game, and allow for pvp and coop play via Nintendo DS wifi.

ok, first thing i have to say, is it is possible to play it online as a MMORPG. One huge reason why is cause all ds' are the same. Another reason why is that anyone that has played a MMORPG, and has 2 computers in their house, will be able to connect their DS to their router. Part of this being a huge reason is that anyone that has WoW or RO knows that a DSL or a Broadband connection is the best way to go.
Another reason why that this would be a technological success is because the graphics of Ragnarok Online is just what a DS can handle. The 3d models of the game can be loaded onto a computer with the default mother board connection for the monitor, and not the onboard video cards either. That means that the 64 bit graphics card inside the ds is more then capable of handling the graphical output of the game.
So with the DSL/Broadband connection and the graphics card problem people seem to have troubles in mentioning, the only thing to think about is...
1) Ping from lower levels of internet infrastructures
2) Your own Router failing
3) Your internet failing
4) server reliability
5) how the interface is going to be laid out, and how well it can work with the DS
6) What class you're going to be
