With my undying love for Age of Empires: Age of Kings and good impressions of the small build I saw for Panzer Tactics at E3, I'm full of anticipation for Blue Byte's The Settlers. I feel it my duty to report to you fine readers that a new batch of screenshots for the game have been posted up at Gamespot. The images show several different locales and some of the stat-tracking of the game through its graphs.So while The Settlers is a real-time strategy game where Age of Empires and Panzer Tactics are both turn-based, some fans firmly aligned with one side might not be so willing to see what the other has to offer. Regardless, the DS, with its touchscreen capabilities and wonderfully-portable nature, is perfect for these types of games and we would love to see them keep on coming.

I agree with Squints - I spent many happy hours playing Settlers II Gold when I bought my first PC all those years ago. I'm really looking forward to this.
Everyone remember the music? Da-da-da-da-da-daaaa, da, da-da-da-da-da-daaaa, da, etc.

Well this is disapointing. Settlers 2, although fun, was no where near as good as 3 and 4 because of the horrible fighting system. To upgrade your units you had to have a gold coin transported to the tower with your units. You couldn't tell the coin where to go, it just had to find its way to one where you needed it the most. Armies where trapped in towers for the most part and attacking wasn't possible unless you where close to another enemy. It also didn't make sense to have a worker per section of road either, and bugs could mess up your city for good if they came up where the worker was lost due to your border changing and cutting off buildings.

I eagerly await Blizzard's craft games. Nothing less than the complete collection of both series would satisfy me.
Civ would be nice too but I have that on my 'Gage.
