Fantasy author Darren Reid will be offering a free e-library, filled with short stories, novellas, and even novels optimized for use with console browsers for the DS, the Wii, and Sony's PS3. Of course, since the U.S. is painfully without a DS browser as yet, we'll be limited on this feature to our Wii browsers. In Europe, however, Ninty fans will be able to wield the power of the written word on the DS for portable reading. We'd love to see this become a regular thing -- with dozens of authors and leaning virtual towers of books available for perusal from the comfort of the sofa, or on the go with the DS.

Can you tell me, please - does this browser support normal text files? If I want to download it from any site. Or pdf...

Whenever I want to use the DS browser to look up a walk through or something on gamefaqs, I just load up the page then close the ds and it will disconnect from the net but keep the page open, leaving me with a walk through and a longer battery life. I assume this will be done the same way.

You can already freely access an excellent online library of works by some very well known SF and fantasy authors at http://www.baen.com/library/
The HTML versions work fine with nearly any browser, including the PSP. On the Wii without a 480p component connection, though, the text will likely be very hard on the eyes due to interlacing.
The publisher firmly believes that this serves to draw more business than it loses to those who never buy anything.

I already have the GBAmovie player (which I think disappeared with lik sang; but the M3 http://www.m3adapter.com/ , which is identical, is still available) and I haven't read a book on paper in over a year. Just finished the Harry Potter books and am now onto Lenny Bruce's 'How to Talk Dirty and Influence People.' It allows me to read (only text files unfortunately, but it's easy to make txts of most pdfs), bookmark, and listen to music on my micro. It also plays movies, pics, and roms but not in any sort of great quality, plus you have to convert tunes & vids. The music is quick & easy and it gets compressed so you can fit more on the memory card. The video is a bit more time consuming (still a hell of allot easier than jacking video into a psp) and of very poor quality but watchable; especially if you're partial to animation.
