You can get much smaller beads that enable you to make smaller pixel art pieces. I made a Link necklace for my girlfriend using these beads and some silver pins. It takes a bit of soldering and because the beads aren't square the design stretches a bit but it still works and is wearable. The Link's below (no pun intended) if you wanted to have a go yourself.
