What with Wiis finally showing up again in stores, we thought we'd dedicate today's daily topic to the DS's new sibling and all the possibilities for connectivity. We know the DS is going to be a force in Pokemon Battle Revolution, but since everyone and their brother seems to have at least one DS these days, it seems likely that we'll see more occasions for the DS and Wii to play together. So what we wanna know is -- if you had the power, what would you do? What kind of connectivity would you like to see?
DS Daily: How would you connect?

i would love 2 see downloadable demos and virtual console games (would probably need some kind of memory, flash more than likely, to go in the GBA slot or something).
also being able to use the DS as a private screen to guard against screen lookers in games such as Madden and Pokemon.
being able to use the DS's touch screen keyboard on the Wii's internet browser would be a nice touch since i find it a tad bit easier to use than my Wiimote.
maybe having an option to use the touch screen as an input rather than the Wiimote in FPS's and such. like Metroid or sumtin.....dont know if that would be any better though cause the Wiimote feels more natural as a shooter.

A nice touch would be a touch screen menu for wii games as well as a radar on the top screen. So how It would work is you set your DS doen so you can see the Radar/Menu and then use you wiimote to play the game.

I'd like to see that you can use the ds as a game controller, with data in the top screen and use the lower screen with the stylus to control the game, such as in metroid prime hunters or starfox...

Well in Tales of Symphonia the camera sucked in battles- it only followed the first player. So I would have a camera tracking each player on the DS and the TV screen regulated to cinematic 'action shots' and special group attacks.
This would also work with crystal chronicals.
A multiplayer RPG that lets the players go where every they like by using the ds while stuff like people being attacked is on the tv. or if all players are within one camera.

I want a DS Channel on the main screen to host every DS demo made so far, plus some new ones.

Downloadable content would be very cool.
VOIP would be awesome too...
I'd like to see a game like this:
The player on the Wii is the captain of a spaceship. So he can pilot the ship from place to place.
Then DS players would be teh crew of the ship. They would play minigames that would "upgrade" the Wii ship allowing the captain to get to the more difficult areas. The captain would ferry DS players to these more difficult areas unlocking more minigames for the DS players to play That would give the Wii player more ship enhancements.
That's My game idea.

They can let us load our virtual console downloads on the DS, either by transfering them and keeping them in temp memory, or having them saved in an SD card then using some special adapter or whatever on the DS.

yeah using ds as a game controller would be great that fully utilizes touch screen and microphone as inputs.

Using the DS as a wireless controller to play Nes and SNES virtual console games.
maybe attaching the DS to a power glove, and using the touchpad to self destruct in an alien vs predator game :)

Pretty much parroting everyone else here, but downloadable demos and VC games would be great.
Full cames would most likely require some kind of blank rewritable DS/GBA cart.
The main problem I can see with this though, is copy protection. What would stop one person from buying a VC game and distributing it to many DSs?
Still, it would be a nice dream.
VoIP capabilities would be good, but seeing as the DS can connect to the web itself, I see no need for a Wii to be anywhere in the process.

It would be nice to leave written (voice) notes on someone's Wii from a DS without requiring a gamecard.
i.e. hook up to a wireless hotspot somewhere with the DS and dial in your friend's code and leave a little message.
That would be useful.

Some great comments here guys! Lets hope the big N is listening (I'm sure they are!).
I think the key thing for Wii-DS (pronounced 'weeds') connectivity is extending the usability of both devices. The Wii gets microphone and touch screen input, whilst the DS gets a great way to download and stream content.
Media Streaming: I would like to see the Wii stream photo's and films to the DS. It would be great to carry on watching something anywhere in the house. This could also be used to enable people to watch other people playing a Wii game from there DS.
Home Tannoy: I would also like to see the DS be turned into a home-tannoy system. So if someone is upstairs playing the Wii, just flip on the DS and call up via the mic ' dinner's ready!'.
Extra Play Screens: I would also like to see them use and extend the multi player functionality seen in Zelda:Four Swords. It was so cleaver the way you could enter a house on the main screen, appear on the GBA to set a secret trap, before returning to the main screen when you leave.
Whispered Missions: Finally, I would like to see them extend the whispered missions from Red Steel. One player could use their DS to leave secret messages that could then be heard via the Wii-mote. Plenty of scope for killer multi player tactics.
In fact the more you think about it, the more possibilities there are! The future's not orange but white and Wii-DS shaped (at least until the other colours hit).

A VC cart for the DS in various sizes that also allows the storing of music and photos (maybe videos, books would certainly be possible), converted to standard formats by the wii, so people can enjoy some of the joys of homebrew without the widespread piracy that would come with that.
Miis in DS games, and I'm sure the possibilities are very long indeed but really it's up to developers. As long as it doesn't involve some kind of syncing.

Maybe you could use the DS in place of a controller?
Use the DS to to draw up a a custom-made level, then send it to a compatible Wii game in glorious 3D?
Play your GBA games on the Wii ala Gameboy Player?
...and like everyone else says, downloadable demos would kick ass.
