Majesco Entertainment never really stopped publishing video games, but it was a very real possibility after its troubles last year. Following the disappointing sales of its banner titles, Psychonauts and Advent Rising, stock values plummeted, CEO Carl Yankowski resigned, and several class-action lawsuits were filed by the company's shareholders. Majesco decided to turn its focus on "value and handheld video games," and has been slowly recovering from its losses with this strategy. So why should we be cheering on the company that brought us throwaway games like F-24 Stealth Fighter and Super Black Bass Fishing? While you're right to shake your head at those titles, Majesco was also the publisher behind niche gems for the DS like Nanostray, Age of Empires: The Age of Kings, and Cooking Mama. And for that, we wish them the best of luck.

I too wish the best of luck to game developers and publishers for pushing good games. I'm a decent cook though I haven't really learned any recipes beyond Thanksgiving dinner, turkey dressing mashed potatoes and cabbage rolls, and California rolls and Japanese curry. What kind of recipes are in Cooking Mama?

Cool, except I'm not interested in Cooking Mama.
Age of Empires was good, but they really had some problems with the visuals, especially differentiating between unit types.

I had forgot they did Nanostray, which took weeks to find on store shelves.

Cooking Mama has lots of recipes. Thing is you don't really learn them the ingrediants how long to cook, the amounts but you can see what to do which is of considerable help. Also there are a fair number of Japanese dishes.
Btw DS download stations have a cooking mama demo where you make salisbury steak.
It's pretty fun game my neice and her mother loved playing it when they got it as a late Christmass gift.

I just wanted to pop in here and say Psychonauts rocked.
The ending of the game had it all set up for a sequel. Probably won't happen, but I'd love to see it.

Good to hear Majesco is doing well... if you own only 3 or 4 DS games, I'd say you've got a 95% chance that you own a Majesco game.
Although I have to say, Majesco has the most pretentious stock symbol ever: COOL
And check this out:

Click on the 10-year view, and yikes! Glad I didn't take part in THAT i.p.o. !

My opinions of Majesco are far less rosy based on their history, although in recent times they have had far less sucky games. Their new attitude of returning to budget and value games, though, sounds just like their old problems. There's enough companies making budget and value games. Majesco seemed to slowly be moving up to at least some grandiose ideas if not true 9s. It's hard for a company with that reputation to move past it, though. Some knowledge of their internal company history also plays a roll in my distate, though, so perhaps my opinions are based more on internal ethics than the games they produce.
