Rumor: No more Nintendo Power?

Word is that we're looking at the end of an era. IGN's Matt Casamassina reports that Nintendo Power is in its last days, at least, as we know it today. While it may just be that a restructure is in the cards for the magazine, rumor has it that the employees are being told that they need to find new jobs by September.

Nintendo Power's been churning out the fanboy news for nineteen years now, but these last few have been a rough time for all sorts of print media, with the rise of the blogosphere and instant information. We wouldn't be surprised to see Nintendo Power shut its doors ... but we would be a little sad.

Typically when this sort of thing happens, subscribers have their subscription switched over to a sister publication, or as is more likely in this case, be issued a refund.

they are still accepting 3 year subscriptions though. You would think they would turn that off if they are going to have to refund it anyway.

I have to say, this sucks. NP was a great magazine. Sometimes the reviews were to be taken with a grain of salt, but it was funny and they had awesome customer service.

If this is true...when I get the notice that my subscription is going poof...I'm holding a funeral. Complete with flowers shaped like mushrooms and pictures of Mario, Link, Peach, etc. all around the room.

Seriously. NP has been around as long as I've been alive. It's an awesome publication, I'd hate to see it go.
