Square Enix may be a little stingy with that other Crystal Chronicles, but they make up for it with all kinds of updates on the DS game Ring of Fates. These newest screens go quite well with the action-packed trailer that was released earlier this week. We've dropped them into the gallery below and hope to add more soon!We know not everyone is pleased with Square Enix lately. While a lot of DS owners are squealing in delight over all of the games headed to the handheld, some of you are a little grumbly about remakes. We know that sometimes SE can go a little overboard, but look at it this way -- they're also loading up on the original content. And when the landscape is packed with great games, we, the gamers, can only win.

Final Fantasy 1-2 remakes are the only ones I get grumbly about. They just aren't really good games to begin with, to be totally honest, and they're being beaten to death. The Dragon Quest remakes are another issue altogether. While Final Fantasy has developed a rabid fanboybase ever since FF7, Dragon Quest has remained relatively low-key, unless you talk to someone like me. Then, you'll hear me ramble for days about its amazingness. So the DQ remakes are really reaching more of an audience now, thanks to the Enix-Square merger years ago, and the excellence and beauty of DQVIII.

Oh, and Ring of Fates looks like a great buy, I'm just hoping it has more depth than the original did. Of course... not to be mean, but it would pretty hard NOT TO have more depth.

I agree with onepointfivevolt - FF1 and 2 were pretty shallow. Save the remakes for good games that most of us (in the west) haven't played.
And yes, the DQ/DW series should get more remakes since most people have never heard of it!

Remakes will be fine, since DS demographics is much wider than those of previous hand helds.
Though of course, they should also think of fan service... ^_^
