In celebration of the upcoming remake of Final Fantasy IV, Famitsu decided to remake a vintage interview with producer Tomoya Asano and director Takashi Tokita. No, we're kidding, it's a new interview, but we like giving Square Enix a hard time about remakery. We do that, and they take our money for games. It's an arrangement we have. The developers discuss Yoshitaka Amano's remake of the logo, which is "really good." They also talk about the story, which Takashi Tokita is going back over: "16 years ago I was still a young man so I want to try and see if there's any parts that I feel my inexperience had a bad effect on or maybe I wasn't expressive enough at the time."
When asked why they decided to remake Final Fantasy IV after III, the two, in unison and without hesitation, yelled "CHA-CHING!" Okay, that didn't happen either.

Just let this game come out so they can do a 3D remake of VI. I'm pretty sure that once that happens, all global conflict will dissolve instantly.

I'm one of the supporters of Squenix's re-re-re-remakes (having usually not played the originals), and even I found the CHA-CHING! joke golden.
It could quite easily have actually happened too!

File me over here with Saphion. While I'm definitely in favor of Square Enix remaking pretty much everything they've ever done with better graphics (except FFIX, which I'd like to see die in a fire), it's still funny. Because I'm pretty sure we're not their primary motivation. The money is. Y'know, the money the DS prints in massive quantities.
And I hand it over with a big smile on my face and then run cackling into the night, clutching my game to my chest.
