We'll admit we haven't been in Target for awhile, so this news comes as kind of a surprise to us. Sure, we like to use our DS Lite to play GBA games (even if they stick out some), but sometimes you just can't beat the feeling of pulling a GBA SP out of your pocket, flipping it open and playing some Omega Factor. Apparently, the GBA SP's time on this Earth is limited.Of course, we can understand why Nintendo would discontinue the handheld, but it doesn't mean we're not a tad bit hurt to see the handheld leave our life so quickly.

Both my kids will keep their GBS-SP's even after I load them up with a pair of DS Lite's at the end of the school year (in about 12 days). But like a fool, I traded my old Onyx GBA SP in when I got my DS Lite several months ago. I wish I still had it...."kicking one self"! Lucky for me they only cost a few bucks, so I should have no problem picking one up.

The DS has been out a long time. Like, 2+ years. It's time for the GBA to go.

While it's understandable that Nintendo would be cycling out the GBA (I mean, besides crappy movie and TV show tie-ins, is anything even being released for it?), it's still sad. Besides the annoying error of not having a headphone jack, the GBA-SP was just about perfect. Compact, with a clear, bright screen, great games, long battery life. Oh, man, I'm gonna go play some Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow right now...

I love my DS....BUT...the GBA SP can go anywhere. I slip it in my back pocket and take it wherever. The DS isn't nearly as portable. So I stil lplay both a lot. I'd never get rid of my SP considering all of my GBA and GB/GB Color games I've got...

OTTy you have to be kidding me. Back pocket so when you sit down boom its cracks? WTF is wrong with you? Place in front pocket. IF you can't fit a DS lite in your pocket you must be seriously stupid. I can fit a DS lite, My wallet, Keys, and Cellphone in one pocket. THis isn't some insanely big pocket neither its just regular pocket of jeans or kackies. Even in my tight pants I can fit DS lite in left front pocket, wallet and keys in right pocket. pocekts can stretch and open up.
I bought a gameboy sp when the new backlighted one came out around time Micro. Worst mistake I have done because credit card put me in the whole and paying down debt made the damn thing with intrest cost allot more. And for what? It sits in game boy advance bag with games collecting dust.
My brother in law borrowed my gameboy sp for maybe 2 months now and I don't even miss it.
All the games I can play infinite amount are on my ds, Tetris DS, Clubhouse games, Meteos I can play forever.
Game Boy advance had its time, its over. DS lite is allot better handheld, online and wireless multiiplayer and massive selection of games. I doubt anyone at stores buy a gameboy advance unless they broke it.

While I'll keep my SP forever, it just doesn't get the use like it used to get. In fact, ever since I upgraded to the brighter screen, the SP has been less used.
The only reason I'm keeping the SP is that it's compatible with the large GB/GBC collection that I have. Otherwise, it's the DS lite all the way. In fact, it's rare that I even pop a GBA game into the DS.
What's sad is how much potential that system had and most of it's later life was spent with crappy movie and TV tie-in games. And the video titles too. Maybe it's better that it dies a quiet death instead of being tormented with that crap...
