Famitsu reveals Etrian Odyssey 2 is in the works
When stumbling upon these images for the sequel to Etrian Odyssey, we understood what we were getting into. There would be more dungeons, which we may or may not need to crawl around, and it would also feature a lot of character customization and other genre staples. No big whoop, right? Wrong.
Turns out, the game is receiving quite the overall. Not only are there some new classes (a battle mage?! Rock!), but the existing ones are being tweaked, allowing the player to create a total of 30 different characters. Hit up the scans below for more visual goodness and tell us if you loved, or hated, the first game.

Me wants badly.
I am also amused that the 'gunner' or whatever pictured there has the company's Jack Frost mascot on her hat.

Oh, I have *loved* this game. It was quite time consuming, though. I may yet return to crawl deeper down (I'm still in the 3rd layer), seeing how this game succeeded so well at character customization and party modification. Want to try something with this class you've unlocked? No need to start from scratch, just add some recruits and have them protected by two or three veterans. Idem for trying alternate class builds. I really loved that, it finally turned me away from Diablo II (customization and trying out weird character builds was my kick) for good.
So, the sequel I am getting, if it gets localized and distributed in North America. Atlus, you did such a good job with the 1st; again, please?

i can't remember how far i got in the first before i stopped playing merely because "i didn't have enough time." it wasn't far though. but i'm still glad i actually bought it so that atlus knows that we want this to hit US shores. maybe i'll spend more time on this one.

This made my day. Seriously. I heard that there was plans for a second Etrian Odyssey, or Yggdrassil Labyrinth :), but seeing it is beyond awesome. I still havent beaten the first EO but now i'll be sure to right down my password at the end so that i'll be able to transfer over whatever we'll be able to transfer. Yay!

Etrian Odyssey is a amazing game, it never pulls the punch or thinks twice before kicking you in the balls.
I am excited to see what they come up with for the 2nd installment. I just don't want some craptastic multiplayer where you switch items when you step on these special tiles.

The first Etrian Odyssey has my nomination for best DS RPG of the year!
I've been playing it since the day it came out, and although I tried to put it down several times to play other games, I always come back to it and I'm playing it as I write (between F.O.E. encounters)...
Yes, more! ABSOLUTELY!!
