More than
most autographed DS systems, this one has, uh,
personality. Character. It looks like it's got a few stories to tell. Like the story of
what that orange stuff is, and the story of
how its top screen got that awful crack. And in case you're distracted by those two issues, this DS has in fact
not been autographed by Shigeru Miyamoto, and it's selling for (a current bid of) just $18.35.
It's unlikely that you'd buy an autographed DS to play anyway. Items like that are strictly for display or bragging rights. So
why not save yourself a little money and buy one that is less than perfectly functional?
We were being sarcastic when we first started typing that, but now we think it's actually a pretty smart idea.
(Update:) Here's why: it's not really signed. As pointed out by commenter GCN Sean, it's a sticker. But hey, broken DS
with a sticker on it for like $18, right? That's actually ... a
terrible deal. Well, at least we think we've found the Worst DS on eBay. Really, we think the thing's a lot more entertaining now that we know it's a hilarious scam.

What is that orange stuff? Cat Piss?
If electronic goods had feelings, that DS would be depressed.

This is NOT real. This was a DS phat sticker that the Nintendo press gave out at E3 a few years back (2005). In the press kit there was a sticker for the DS phat included. I was there. And to prove it, I still have it. In fact, I will go even further.. I just took pictures for you to prove this. I am surprised someone didnt look into this before posting the news... Do not bid on this. It is just a sticker on a broken DS phat.

I figured it wasn't really signed but to be honest your comments just made me really relieved that the orange stuff isn't cat puke.
Lucky duck -- my little brother would murder you for those stickers (^-^)

If I had the money I would buy a broken DS phat.
You can just peel the stickers off and close it and put it up somewhere.
You know, just to say I have a DS phat.

Buy a new topscreen, and wham! New DS on the cheap. A new screen costs about $40.

True, but $40+$18+$10(shipping) it totals to be $68 when you could just get one used at Gamestop for about $60.

if delivery is $10. then for $28 you are getting a fully functional GBA with the lower screen. that can't be too bad a deal, right? what if you find a bricked DS with a working top screen later? for really, really cheap

Then you would be in loads of luck.
But yeah, what you said about the GBA is true.

Except that it wouldn't be "fully" functional in that you couldn't do anything requiring connecting to a Gamecube or a GBA. Nor would you be able to play classic Gameboy or Gameboy Color titles.

Then it's more like a 85% functional Gameboy Micro.

I actually got a replacement LCD for $25...
So it's actually not thatd bad of a deal. I bought a broken DS for more than that and repaired it. I'm kind of pissed after reading this.

I got that skin. It's just that I never used it since my DS is a Lite. I'd prefer the older DS 'cause it's bigger and fits my hands more comfortable than the Lite.
That skin was given out when hundreds of people waited in line to meet the great Miyamoto at Nintendo World. The first 200 got their stuff signed, and I was soo far back, and I didn't even get pizza from those NW employees. At least I saw him, even if it was behind a glass window.
