Our most evil and dark attempt to introduce you to the disgusting world of legal homebrew has concluded. Now that the dust has settled, we want to know how many of you actually managed to give something a try? Did you rush out and start downloading like crazy? Perhaps turned your DS into a PDA?
All of you who've now decided to take the plunge, what are you enjoying? For those of you that didn't, why? What's keeping you from the wide world of possibilities that come from the DS homebrew scene? We overcame our fears, you should at least try to overcome your own!

I've fiddled around with homebrew before, and there are some programs that I'm really interested in now that you've shown them off.

I was into homebrew before (had a DS Xtreme, ugh) but gave my flashcard away, you inspired me to finally pick up an R4 and get my SCUMM on. Portable insult swordfighting FTW!

Pocket Physics won't get out from my flash card and I tried the phone homebrew, worked pretty well but it's very limited..

The writeup definitely helped clear some things up for me. I'm saving up to get a cart right now and can't wait to start downloading apps. I'm really curious about the usefulness of the PDA app; if it can replace my Palm TX, that'll be one less thing to carry around.

I haven't gotten into yet, but I'm certainly looking into it. I'm thinking of going with the Cyclods Evolution kit. Maybe a little more than the R4/M3 but from what I've been reading online, it seems to be better. Just gotta save up a little extra cash. (been spending to much money on motorcycle parts lately)
I hope DS Fanboy continues to post things on the homebrew front. Thanks for all the info you've been posting on it!

My CycloDS card is on its way and I have a list of titles to download. I tried to get into homebrew before (I've always wanted to try using the DS as a PDA) but I gave up after trying to research the different flash cards available. Then I saw your lovely clear and concise guide with a number of choices covered and I was sold.
So congratulations, your evil plan worked perfectly on me.

I've had a Cyclo DS for about 6 months now. I absolutly love the darn thing. The homebrew apps are a nice thing to have, but I dont find myself using even the PDA often. I utlitlize a 2gig San disc and it tuggs at my battery pretty hard to access the card. That's my only complaint. I don't want to turn on my DS for the phone or pda, only for my battery to die when I finally have some gaming time.
I loved the report, though. I'm glad you guys took the time to give us good content to read.

I picked up a TopToy a few weeks ago, so this was perfect timing for me. And Lockjaw is awesome, so I can specifically thank you guys for that.

You're an idiot, just because I own a gun doesn't mean I will shoot someone, and just because I own a flash card doesn't mean I will pirate.

With the flood of shovel-ware hitting one of the most popular (portable) gaming console, that was inevitable. And please stop calling it piracy. Otherwise we would have to claim many companies "thieves" - because they sell the worthless shovel-ware for big buck.
I frankly think about my R4DS more like about demo system: I download game and check them out. That's really helps to save a buck.
Also, what is very important to me, the cards allow one to carry many games while taking 0 of pocket space.
And the homebrew is great bonus to it. I do not use it very often, but e.g. mp3 player is "must have" kind of thing in this age - blatantly missing from DS. Homebree helps to fill the gaps N has left in system.

I do have to say, DSfanboy is responsible for me getting into homebrew, although they converted me well before homebrew week.

Of course homebrew week was immensely helpful, because it did introduce me to even more homebrew stuff that I had never even heard about.

Colours DS rocks! Could do with an undo button though. The Neo Geo emulator works quite nicely too. Not convinced by DScratch.

I'm interested but I know that if I were to buy a flash card I would use it for illicit purposes.

I was disappointed that you didn't cover slot-2 solutions in your getting started guide. There the kind of thing you actually may need a guide for. Furthermore some of your other article talked about GBA homebrew and yet made no mention of their inability to play on slot-1 flashcarts.

sega genesis is also on the ds through emulation. They updated it recently so now it plays music too!

I've had folks try to introduce me to homebrew on both the PSP and the DS. I even dabbled a bit in the very early days of the PSP. Despite legitimate uses, I'm not of a fan of the practice. Whether I'm right or wrong, I believe homebrew is driven by piracy and for that reason I'm not interested in supporting the scene. That's not a shot any anyone who practices legitimate homebrew, nor does it make me an idiot as teek might suggest.
Ultimately, I have a DS and PSP to play games. While anything outside of that can be fun to tinker with, even useful, it's not anything I need.
