Karmic retribution: Pac-Man gets eaten (DIY)

If you eat food, which is a given, and you aren't a vegan or lactose intolerant, you probably know that cheese is the best food ever. (The previous statement is a well-known fact, and is not up for debate.) Of course, cheese-based foods (well, all foods, for that matter) are always better when they relate to video games.

Today's spotlight food relates to Pac-Man. No, we're not talking about Babybel cheese ... that would be too obvious. Instead, Jocelyn from Snack-or-Die found this neat recipe, which details how to make Pac-Man and pellet-shaped crackers. In case you're wondering what they taste like, think Goldfish snacks.

If you have even the least bit of culinary skill and own the proper hardware, you owe it to yourself to make these crackers. The recipe makes the process seem pretty easy, and they look mighty tasty.

DS Phat mod pays homage to the N64

eBay user luckey92 knows what to do with an old DS Phat: mod it! The second part of auctioning it off online and donating 20% of the sale to Child's Play isn't something that we'd probably do ourselves, however. It's not that we're horrible people who don't care about good organizations that bring fun and hope to sick children all over, it's that we're horrible people who love the DS and would hold onto this sucker forever. We'd probably sit it next to our N64 and take pictures, then conduct a mock wedding between two N64s, with this DS being their offspring.

We'd then name them the Pac-Mans.

Have your feet wink at people with these Pac-Man shoes

We're sure to cement our places as huge geeks by admitting that we'd wear these, but we can't help it. When it comes to Pac-Man paraphernalia, the little yellow pellet-eater and his cute ghost friends just make us weak in the knees. Add the fact that these shoes are so nicely hand painted, and we immediately turn into mush.

Pictures of these beauties were found on Flickr from user "thekalaka," which is also the name of an urban clothing store in Brazil. The Flickr page even confirms that these shoes are sold there, or at least were if they're not sold-out, by listing the address of the shop. If any of you readers happen to live near The Kalaka, be sure to stop in one day and buy these shoes so that we can live vicariously through you. Or, you can just send them to us as a gift so that we can live not-vicariously through ourselves.

What was the GBA missing? A DDR pad, of course!

Instructables user Jason1820 rewired his Game Boy Advance to accept controller inputs from a Dance Dance Revolution controller, creating the weirdest way to play Pac-Man since the board game. The resulting monstrosity is neither a console nor a handheld, and is really unsuitable for anything but being insane. Thus, we love it.

This guy rewired the circuitry on his GBA to take an external controller, and one that was meant for another system at that. Then he wrote up detailed instructions on how to do it yourself, and added pictures. Meanwhile we couldn't muster the wherewithal to make dinner today, and we'd barely know how to turn on the GBA without the instruction manual.

I'm dreaming of a Pac-Man LED Christmas

This "tree" definitely puts the one at Rockefeller Center to shame.

Located at Nuevos Ministerios in downtown Madrid, this animated LED display features everyone's favorite power pellet abuser, Pac-Man himself.

You may notice that the cherries, pretzels, and other guzzle-able items have been replaced by a Christmas tree, holiday bells, ribbons, and stars. Nice touch.

To see a gargantuan picture of the Pac-Man tree (or at least a larger image than the one to your right) and some video action of it, jingle all the way past the break.

Pac-Man and Rubik's Cubes make a marriage of artistic genius

A French street artist known as Space Invader created this brilliant piece for an exhibit called "The Streets of Europe." We're sure you recognize these troublesome ghosts from the Pac-Man franchise, which were made so retroliciously from Rubik's Cubes. The concept is so simple yet brilliant that we can't help but be awed.

If you should feel so inclined to see this work of art in person, head to the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York City during the month of December.

Video game art at its finest

Artist Matt Burlingame created this piece which he calls The Dynamic Trilogy, and we think it's pretty nifty. Sure, we're no experts when it comes to art analysis, but something about this really speaks to us. Maybe it's Pac-Man's despair over the death of a ghost, or maybe it's Mario so callously bashing a turtle's head with a hammer.

Burlingame's art statement declares, "It is art that depicts the depravity of society in its most blatant forms. Most importantly, it is made with a sense of humor. To understand his work is to understand a certain uneasiness within us all. Laughing at its message means he has achieved his goal." Well then, let us just say, "Mission accomplished, sir."

If you were hoping to add this to your art collection, we fear it's too late, as the piece has already sold.

Pac-Man jewelry is pretty, buy it for us

If Namco Museum DS wasn't enough to sate your Pac-Man fix, perhaps you need a dose of something shiny. It's rare that we see video game jewelry that's both nice and for sale, but the creations by Tiny Armour are exceptions to the rule. Of course, we never said anything about them being affordable. This Ms. Pac-Man ring, for example, will set you back $68.

Check out more Pac-Man related jewelry after the jump!
