Keep in mind that when you're working with yarn, things can be kind of hit and miss, especially when you're trying to make an image look good against a background color. RedxWhite yarn against this background would look TERRIBLE and would not show up well.
Yaye for Crochet! :) Though personally I'm partial to knitting my masterpieces.
