Despite the incomprehensible script, the artwork and snazzy designs are easy on the eyes. Head on over to the official page for the standard introductory animations, and the page filled with extra information and videos can be found here. On top of that, extra pieces of charcters artwork are ready for staring at here -- though they won't be official in-game models of any kind.
So, what to do now? Hope that the classic Fire Emblem gameplay holds up against the villified art direction? Pretty much. Besides, we all went crazy for ugly, ugly Advance Wars, so why should this be any different?

I think the sprites look really nice when animated.
Very castlevania looking.

So it seems they've swapped character designers for the official art again. Marth's design is a bit more youthful and a bit less noble and graceful than I'm used to, but everyone else seems acceptable.

All that really matters is the gameplay...we'll see how this one turns out.

Ha! Advance Wars (even Days of Ruin) was definitely not ugly in the end. It kept up it's own standards of art design over realism. This however... has not.

Am I the only one who couldn't get the video to work?

yeah, the video didn't work for me at first, but then I refreshed and it did (I also updated flash on IE right b 4 that..., but I doubt that's what did that.)
The animations are kinda clay looking actually, but I'm more pissed at the action/battle music. I usually keep the battles on (for the GBA, not GC) but that music will drive me crazy.
