What is this? Why, it's Nintendo's new music, sound, light, creation game for the Nintendo DS. At the time of writing, Electroplankton had an average composite of 80%. Most criticism is based on the fact that it's a music creator rather than a game. So if you dabble in recording or can get your Garage Band on, you might be in for a creative dose of foot-tapping joy.[Meta Review compiled for Joystiq]
- Gamerz Edge 65% - "Regretfully, [Electroplankton] is on the DS and the majority of DS owners are gamers. As a gamer, you would be hard pressed to find much fun in making music if you’re not in the mood or not capable of doing so."
- Yahoo! Games 80% - "Electroplankton feels different, simply because it offers too much choice and unexpected surprises... We applaud Nintendo for letting North American gamers enjoy this beautiful release, and hope to see more like it."
- 1UP 80% - " In the end, Electroplankton is an incredibly subjective experience, and it certainly won't be to everyone's liking. Yet at its best, the game turns Nintendo's DS into an odd spin on the iPod -- an intimate, portable, personal musical experience that shifts and changes each time you touch the screen."

I heard today from someone I'm *not* inclined to believe that the US version is not the same as the Japanese version, and is inferior (they took stuff out).
Can anybody who's played both confirm this? This game is the sole reason I got a DS, and I've been waiting for the localized version even though I could easily have picked up an import.
