Metroid Prime: Hunters marks the return of Samus and the arrival of several new bounty hunters, each vying for victory in deadly online arenas. Judging by the initial batch of reviews, it would appear that the demo which introduced many of us to the DS for the first time has flourished into an excellent, platform-defining game. Yay!- IGN (90%) praised the game's presentation and online play, but were a bit annoyed by the game's lazy boss designs. "Metroid Prime Hunters is easily the best handheld first person shooter developed to date, even with its somewhat high learning curve and cramp-inducing control."
- Gamepro (90%) loved the graphics and multiplayer aspects of the title, but thought that the touch screen aiming was a bit tricky when precision was required. "Although the single player game will provide you with hours of entertainment, the multiplayer in Hunters could be a game all unto its own."
- Gamespot (86%) was particularly impressed by the controls, but not so much by the apparently linear level design. "The online action is smooth and lag free in our experience, and you're likely to find stiff challenges online against other human opponents." [Note: Gamespot has since taken down their review due to an error. We'll post their updated score as soon as they publish it. Thanks Adam! Another note: Okay, the review is back up and the score is unchanged. That was fun. Thanks Andrew!]
- Gamedaily (80%) said that the lacking single-player mode was more than made up for by the excellent online component. "The game's controls take a bit of time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll realize NST has done an extraordinary job in bringing Samus to the Nintendo DS."

Amazing game! I love the face paced control setup. Wifi in itself can be its own game. If anyone wants to play here's my friend code.

The controls /do/ induce cramps. I have to put it down like every 10-15 minutes.

I was playing this all last night (with a quick break for "The Return of Chef" which was as hilarious as I expected) I have to agree with most of these reviews. While the single player mode is a bit more linear than I like, but it doesn't get boring (which can happen when you have a complex or expansive setting with very little change in design) and at least I haven't gone backtracking.
The controls are great you can use the touchscreen like an analog stick but this option might be more fun with the lite as the bottom of the "phat" can dig into the crook of your thumb & index finger.
Everyone's right, the multiplayer is were this puppy shines. Plenty of arenas, plenty of player slots and plenty of characters to choose from. I don't have the headset yet but I look forward to getting one and yelling at everyone kicking my as... As a big fan of Unreal Tournament (and it's entire evolution) I think this is the perfect game to have on wifi. In fact they should've launched this with the service but I'm guessing they had to put the finishing touches on it.
Now if they could only have made it as bloody as unreal tournament.

Do you even need a headset? The DS has a mic built in. What would the point of a headset be?

i absolutely dispise FPSs. i can honestly say that this is the first FPS ive ever bought (partial 2 third person myself). but the preveiws for this game looked promising so i decided 2 give it a try. i bought it 2 das ago......and 4 2 days ive been playing it. it is so addictive! i just cant put it down! the only complaint i have is that the controls r awkard at first as the touch mode leads 2 alot of wrist cramps (but i think the DS Lite will solve this problem). now i gotta start picking up all these other FPSs people r raving about!
