One of our UK-based readers sent us one of the first bits of information to help in our ceaseless quest to locate all the DS download kiosks in the world ever."I found a DS demo kiosk in HMV on Oxford Street in London. It was demoing Mario Kart DS and had a crappy times new roman a4 print-out that gave instructions on how to download demos from the kiosk. I followed em and sod all happened.
I went back 2 days later, and they changed the kiosk to an Animal Crossing demo with a new shiny sign that said you can download demos. I tried again and it worked. All they had was Polarium, so I grabbed that and finished the demo on the train ride home..."
And our progress on the American front? Not so good. Nintendo seems to have hit a delay in rolling out their kiosks, with the Nintendo Store in New York being the only US location thus far to be bathed in Wi-Fi goodness. Nintendo's own Download Station page promises that the units will start showing up in early April, however, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled and your DS powered on.
If you spot one, let us know what your experience with it was like! Tell us what games you tried! Send us a picture! Or update this Frappr map that one of our swell readers created! And make obnoxious use of exclamation marks!
[Thanks Butch, Sean and D. Short!]
[Update: Thanks for the submissions so far! Just make sure you give us enough details on the location--states are rather large, after all.]

In Normal, IL at my local Best Buy they had a download station with demos of MarioKartDS, Brain Age, True Swing Golf, Pokemon Trozei, Meteos, Tetris DS and a video of Metrioid Prime Hunters. Needless to say I was in that Best Buy for a Looonnnggg time. The downloads are very quick and I can't wait for Brain Age!!!!!

There is no DS demo pods in my local GAME (in Ealing, West London) but when I went to Brighton over the weekend they had a new kiosk with AC:WW with a notice describing the download service. I turned on my DS and started searching for a download but none came. I even walked around the store trying to get a signal.
Dissapointed.

I'm about 45 Minutes away from Bloomington/Normal, I'll have to check to see if there are any setup around here yet or find an excuse to take a short trip.

Best Buy in Emeryville, CA has the download kiosk. Tried out the Meteos demo, eh. Downloaded the Brain Age demo and still have it on my DS, short but a good taste of what's to come.

Kiosks has got to be the dumbest waste of time and money I've ever seen. It all seems like a step backwards. I don't go to my local Gamestop to demo pc games. I just download them over the net on my PC. And the DS supports WiFi and will have a browser later this year. I rather sit at a starbucks or some other internet cafe on a weekend, sipping on my latte, and try a demo, not go to a tech store and stand around like geek. What's the point of all this? am I missing something? is this just more industrial self-indulgence? I rather see Nintendo focus on getting that browser to us faster. This is something that I think the PSP is heading on the right direction.

There's a working kiosk at the Best Buy in New York City, on 23rd St and 6th Avenue. RIght now it's got the same stuff as the Nintendo store---Mario Kart, Brain Training, Meteos, and a Metroid movie.

They have a download station in GameStation, Basingstoke, UK. Spoke to the staff, and they don't have enough plug to plug it in, but they're not in any hurry as apparently it only has Polarium and Meteos demos on it and they don't see the Nintendo rep very often to get updates! Come on Nintendo pull your fingers out, make sure they are plugged in(!) and they have demos of up coming new games, not 2 fairly ancient puzzlers!!
