A vicious rumor has surfaced that the sequel to DS Fanboy's favorite lawyer-em-up Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is to feature an English language option in the Japanese release. There is, however, some corroboration from Play-Asia, which states this to be true and that the game will release with a budget price.So why is Phoenix Wright: Justice For All having an English language option such a vicious rumor? Because if it turns out to be false, we will literally destroy all life. Or, y'know, wait for the game's release next year. Whichever happens first.

I think it has an English option, but it isn't localized at all. I'd wait for a full localization, because there's a huge difference between translation and localization. It would be like watching some crappy fansub of Cowboy Bebop instead of the far superior English dub, which had an awesome translation.

Paul P.: I prefer absolutely 0 localization. You might actually be able to make an argument for localization playing a larger role in Phoenix Wright given that the names are mostly all plays on words, etc... but I'm willing to deal with that and let the realization of the funny come later when I learn more Japanese. As it stands, most games are hurt by localization rather than helped.

Considering that this has been done with other versions of Gyakuten Saiban before, I'd frankly be surprised if they didn't offer it. Certainly, they better be, or my import dollars are going to be going to waste. I might be able to read Japanese, but the vocab a game like this would require is beyond me.

My guess is that the only question remanining is if whether or not the English text included in the Japanese release is a translation or localisation as Paul mentioned.
If someone owns the Japanese version of the first game, they can probably verify this for us, since most likely "Justice For All" will be identical to "Ace Attorney".
