Sometimes we get a little sulky and insist that Japan gets all the really fun stuff. The Japanese trailer for the forthcoming Lunar Knights makes the game look like a lighthearted romp with, y'know vampires. Light-hearted, killer vampires. Even the names in the Japanese version are more exciting. We get Aaron and Lucian -- they get Django and Sabata. How do you replace a name like Django? Can you really pull off a full-throated, primal roar with a name like "Aaron" or "Lucian?" No. But you sure can with Django. Go ahead, give it a try.Now isn't that better?
The new site is open, and check after the jump for the spicy new trailer.

I find myself confused as to why the characters got renamed. After all, in the first two Boktai games, they kept the names Django and Sabata...

I'm digging the funky jazz sax beat. Also if they made an anime out of his game i would sooo watch it, just looking at these scenes on the trailer.

Take a look at the Japanese name for Lunar Knights. It has Boktai and the Django, Sabato names in it. DS moniker for the Japanese.
Boktai got a bad rep in America hence why Konami changed the name and refused to say it was Boktai 3.

Objection!
Idioteraser, Lunar Knights is NOT Boktai 3.
There is a third Boktai game for GBA in Japan, called Shin Bokura no Taiyou: Gyakushuu no Sabata (translated, it means "New Our Sun: Sabata's Counterattack").
This is the fourth game in the Boktai series. And from my understanding, it's actually a redo of the entire Boktai universe.
You are correct, though, as why there are the name changes. Boktai 1 and 2 didn't sell well, due to the solar sensor. And to avoid the stigma associated with that, they changed the name for the US release.
But, it is worth noting you CAN name the playable characters whatever you want (like with the GBA Boktais). So they can still be called Django and Sabata, if you'd like!

Those clearly aren't the same Django and Sabata from original Boktai's. Maybe Konami is trying a something similar to what Nintendo does with Link.
