Taken from Nintendo World 2006, this embedded video reveals more on the battle system for Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. Featuring a turn-based system, it appears that the player will have a roster of 3 monsters that are out, in battle, by default. Also, is it just us, or does this game look amazing?

This game look fantastic, the DS is more of a graphical powerhouse then I ever expected. I know it's not a PS2 but you've got to admit that looks pretty close to Dragon Quest 8 on PS2, it's got to be the same engine with a slightly dumbed down graphic system.

Wow. That's just impressive. This might be the first game I buy for the graphics alone.

This is not a wii game, this is the second video i've seen the first was released at TGS. The Wii game your thinking about is Dragon Quest Swords, which is featured today on wiifanboy.

Is it a Wii game or have GameVideos stuffed up by saying "Square Enix's newest RPG tricks on Wi.." ? ..what do they mean by that?
Here's a link to a vid of the DS version:

It's not really that impressive. DS has hardware-based toon-shading (though not really "shaders"), rather than having to rely on a software-based approach (on non-shader based hardware no less) like the PS2 game which gives it some edge. But you definatly notice the lower resolution of the textures, and the low-poly meshes. The animation is also much worse, and less is shown on screen. It's similar to Viewtiful Joe in that respect, as well as Tales of Tempest. Including Cel-shading as a standard hardware feature was a very smart idea, and has helped them narrow the gap with the capabilities of the PSP.
All that said, it doesn't look BAD, but it's not as great as it may seem in small doses. I like the style, of course, and I love the DQM series so I will definatly be picking this one up.

the DS is highly underrated when it comes to graphics. I have Mario Hoops, and let me just say, best graphics on a DS game I have yet. I don't really like Dragon Quest though. heehee!
