If you're a
real Castlevania fan, then it's likely the sweet
preorder bonus for
Portrait of Ruin from GameStop and co. got your blood pumping. There's nothing like teasing the flap on a beautiful box and dipping your fingers inside to stroke the goods. We know you want it. Flickr user and DS fan Gil knows, too, and he photographed his very special unboxing odyssey just for you. The smooth, slim stylus and DS case, the poster with handy timeline and luscious artwork, and the collector's edition music CD -- it's all inside. And even if you couldn't get your hands on one, now you can at least watch as it is undressed, left naked and open for your roving eyeballs.
And even if you don't love
Castlevania in that special way that we do, it's always nice to see a collector's set with some real goodies ... and any fan knows the music from the series is worth having on disc.
[Thanks, Gil!]

Ohhhhhhh, why didn't I preorder? I know I'm going to end up getting this game anyway, but I couldn't justify spending full price at the time... now I have non-buyer's remorse.

Well, preordering didn't guarantee anything. I've heard many people never did get their bonuses, even if they preordered months ago. I preordered 2 weeks ago and managed to get the bonus. Luckily I didn't show up to the EB later than I did, they only had 5 bonuses left (1 of which was damaged) and a big stack of around 20 pre-orders left. It was also apparent that they were giving them out first come, first serve.

No, from the Serious. Portrait of Ruin's music was composed by "Young Einstein" and "Reckless Kelly" star Yahoo Serious.
What, you didn't know that?

I picked up the my girlfriend's and my preorders this morning, but only managed to get one of the bonuses. The art book was a little disappointing, but the rest is really nice. I loved the fake wax seal on the box.

I actually had mine on Friday and meant to do an unboxing set but never got around to it for some reason. The dude at my local GameStop called my house as soon as the bonuses came in because I had asked about it a few times after I preordered. The computer didn't list "preorder bonus" so I was concerned it was an online only thing.
37 tracks on that CD! I just wish it had the night theme from Castlevania II.

I actually ordered and picked it up on Tuesday! When I went to pick up the game on Wednesday, they were gonna unknowingly give me another new bonus set, but being deathly afraid of bad kharma, I admitted to already having my set.

i think this guy needs to ebay that swag and use the money for a better camera, or a class on how to use the macro mode ;)
my mom got me the game for Christmas and i told her if she was getting it for me she should preorder it, and i know she did, but havent heard from her yet as to whether she got the bonus or not.
It's pretty crappy if they didnt have enough for the preorders, because they advertised the crap out of it and I don't recall seeing "while supplies last" or anything like that. Even if that WAS the case, common sense would tell them to take the proper amount of preorders and then start informing people that no more bonuses were available.

I went and picked my up the date it said on the website, but they said it'd be the day after that, so i came back the next day and they almost didnt give me the bonus- i had to ask for it due to shortages! The art book was good, not as godly as i asusmed but good, def. worth pre-ordering + effort

I was given my last week by my local EB and I have enjoyed the extras as I like the neat stylus and the game card holder!
It is always good to preorder as you get cool items like that. I preordered Elebits and got a stuffed elebit character!
