Is Capcom going the way of Rare? That would be a devastating blow to Nintendo fans, who gobble up Capcom's offerings (and those of their subsidiaries) like so much sweet, sweet chocolate. Rumors of Microsoft snatching up Capcom have been rumbling since November, but now we're hearing it a little too frequently for comfort.
There are a number of Capcom games already headed toward Nintendo platforms -- for the DS, there are too many to count. But if this excruciatingly tragic rumor is true, what happens after that? Will getting Capcom games on Nintendo systems become a struggle ala Rare? We hope not, but buying up the things that make the competition good has long been a staunch Microsoft strategy ....

Considering Microsoft's stance on their second-parties making portable games (Rare makes DS stuff, MechAssault was on DS, there was that Halo game that was never made), this wouldn't spell the end for Phoenix Wright. It would, however, mean lots of Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, and Resident Evil games on 360. So I am all for it! Bring on the buy!

If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em. MS is uber rich, and wants to be the coolest kid on the block. So what else does it do but buy friendships. This is super smart, and will work.

This would not only hurt Nintendo Fans it would also hurt Sony fans. But If this is true I hope that Capcom makes a Phoenix Wright game for the 360. It would be sad though to see no Phoenix Wright game for the Wii. That could have been one awesome game. All this really means is that MS will make sure more games come out of Japan that are great and in some ways this is good news.
Plus it means games like Monster Hunter will use the live service and MS will make sure Capcom makes more games quicker.

Just because ms would own capcom doesnt mean anything except possibly only capcom games on an ms system. People saying ms will destroy games is just a stupid comment. Its rare's fault they havent made many great games since the buyout. Its only bad news if you have a ds, wii or ps3 only.

Just because you have the money to buy good developers doesn't mean you'll always get good games from those developers. Of course many would immediately think of Rare, but Rare was already going downhill after the N64. I meant that huge hopping spree Microsoft went on buying out numerous small developers. Sure, they pumped out games for the XBox, but were any of them good?
This rumor was most likely started when Capcom showed their release list that included a number of XBox 360 games. But as 20XX and BPMΩ mentioned, this is similar to when Capcom was releasing their number of games to the GameCube.

Hmm Microsoft buying Capcom will hurt Sony alot more then Nintendo and considering how Sony's System launch sucked and how much Sony is screwing up, This is a very good move by Microsoft. I feel however that this trend is becomming serious. If Microsoft were to buy out Square-Enix next ... look out b/c Microsoft would dominate. I also hope that if capcom goes to Microsoft then SNK games would go to Sony and Nintendo.

it would suck, the monster hunter franchise would die due the the 360's horrible japanese sales and lack of popularity in the US and Europe. *cries*
