Advance Wars is one of our favorite franchises. But despite an excellent turn-based battle system and charming sprite skirmishes, we can't help but think what would have made it irresistible ... Some recent news, however, says otherwise. Though the GBA version has been canceled (uh ... whatever), the DS version is still on the way. Also, though no other details were given, the game will also appear on "another platform". Hmm. In any case, Pirate Battle looks like an excellent strategic outing, so we'll keep an eye out for ya.
For bonus awesome, check after the break for our top three pirate pickup lines.
[Thanks, Andy!]

It's not *really* related, but Ninty fans will appreciate (or be scarred by) the latest VG Cats comic:

Linking people to VGCats is usually not a good idea, but in this case that's like saying that driving off a bridge is not a good idea.
WHEN WILL THE EPIDEMIC OF VGCATS FANDOM END.

No problem Arrr Arrr!
I think this also draws on Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced on the GBA. These turn based battle games are right up my street. I've never really been into chess, but throw in some tidy graphics, a contemporary theme and maybe some unit advancement and I'm there!

ya know, the only thing that caught my eye on this article was the picture of Steve the Pirate... man, taht movie was great. This pirate game, if it ever does come out, will definitely be on my "To Get" list... along with PW2, Castlevania PoR, and uh... stuff amongst other stuff.
