Duct tape: 4 dollars
Scissors: 2 dollars
Making your cheapskate father proud: priceless
... at least, that's what it'd be like for us if we were to actually go ahead and make one of these, but our E3 gift from Nintendo works good enough for us. Anyone plan on giving this a try?

You can get a pair of socks for $1.99. Not only would it look better, but you'd get two "cases" for the price of one.

Anyone who either can't afford a DS Lite, or likes the original DS better.

How would socks look better? Then they just look like you're a weirdo who keeps crap in his socks. This looks like you put effort into caring for the DS and shows you have some mad skillz.

No matter how well this was made glue will eventually start to seep out of the ends of that duct tape and it will be a real bitch to get off that DS.
This is not as good of an idea as it seems.
Trust me.
I still give props to the person who made it though. Just don't use it for more then a few weeks or god forbid you let it warm up in the sun for any amount of time.

Why pay $1.99 for socks when you can get them at the 99 Cent Store?

@Matters: I am the creator of the case. Thanks for the props! I live in the UK though, so warming up in the sun isn't really a problem ;-) I understand from the commentors on instructables that there is much less glue on "Duck" tape than "Duct" tape. We shall see.
@rokobungi: No, a case isn't really needed for a DS, but it gets thrown in my bag with all sorts of other things, including my lunch, so its a case of damage limitation. Its also handy to have all my favourite games to hand rather than sloshing around the bottom of my bag in little plastic cases. Also, making things out of Duck Tape is great fun!

Ah well I'm from Texas so the sun is a bit more of a problem over here ;) Duck tape is just a brand name they make duct tape among other things. I think that is probably the brand I usually buy though but not always. I used duct tape to do a lot of junk like this in the past so that's probably why I have a phobia of using it for things like this now. It's not impossible to get that glue off but it sure is a pain in the ass to get that nasty sticky stuff off. heh. Maybe the goo begone stuff they have out these days will work better than the crap I used in the past.
Anyway. Cool case but I think I'll just stick to using my pocket ;)

If it weren't for Nintendo moving the Start, Select, and Power buttons, I would be all over the DS Lite. That and with how much torture I put my DS through, the Lite wouldn't look too sexy for long.
