With the latest release schedule that Nintendo dished out, we all noticed a severe lack of Game Boy Advance games. So, we figured we'd ask you guys where you stand with the GBA. Could you care less or are you still actively purchasing and playing GBA games?

It's dead as long as we aren't getting Rhythm Tengoku.

I still love the GBA. Advanced Wars, FF games, Castlevania, etc, including many excellent recent games (Super Robot Taisen I and II) are all reason the GBA still has life in it. The DS was wise to include a GBA slot in it, and I would love to see more GBA titles come out, as some of them are ebtter than some DS titles, as well as some DS titles being refered to as a 'GBA expansion' (usually to minimal use of DS features).

The GBA is a dead system.
I haven't bought a GBA game since I got my DS, and I don't plan on ever buying one in the future.

I still have a few GBA titles I haven't gotten around to playing: Zelda - Minish Cap, Mario&Luigi Superstar Saga, and Final Fantasy I&II (I never actually played the original NES titles). The Metroid titles are really great for it too. I generally am carrying around at least a couple GBA titles with my DS in it's case. That said, I don't foresee buying any titles that are for GBA at this point, at all. DS titles are easier to carry around and offer a lot more.

I have a bunch of GBA games I picked up through yard sales and trades that I havent played yet. I'm still looking to get more. Maybe the system should be buried but not the games. Keep em coming.

Game Boy is dead in the same way Gamecube is dead. Maybe some people will pick it up (as a cheap system, or to give to a young child). But I've moved on. And I think retailers would like to move on. And Nintendo would like to move on.
I just wish they would have sent it off gracefully with something exciting like the bit Generations titles. But this is the way the Game Boy ends, not with a bang but a whimper.
Of course, GBA still has a huge library of great games. Good thing they work with my DS.

Thomas I couldn't agree more.
I've purchased my last GBA title, and that FF5 Advance.
It's not really that sad though, because the DS is such a strong successor.
I think the GBA is still going to be around as long as the carts are out there and playable.
The hardware is certainly robust enough.

There are plenty of awesome games that have come out for the GBA since the rise of the DS. Dotstream, Drill Dozer, Final Fantasy V and VI, to say the least! A great game is a great game no matter how you slice it, and all of those games could only come out for the GBA. Dotstream's beauty is it's simplicity and it would have been considered a ripoff for the DS. Drill Dozer needed to be in a GBA cart to work, and I'm glad Square Enix made the move to release relative ports of 4, 5, and 6, to the GBA while concentrating their efforts of FFIII, and making an incredible DS version of it.
There are certain GBA games that have been made irrelevant by the DS, Mario Kart being the big one for me, but Mario Golf beats the heck out of True Swing or Tiger Woods gold for the DS. Plus, I still love to bust out Metroid Fusion and Astro Boy for classic side-scrolling action that doesn't feel the need to make use of two screens just for effect or awkward stylus controls (Yoshi's Island DS anyone?)
I wish they would release Rhythm Tengoku over here, I do love imported games, but even I would admit it is hard to pay over forty bucks for a GBA game at this time, no matter how great it supposedly is. Hopefully Nintendo will release it as the last GBA release ever, giving it the sendoff it rightfully deserves. Most likely it will be another pukebucket adaptation of whatever Pixar or Dreamworks film is coming out a year from now, maybe Cooking Mama make sushi out of Finding Nemo 2?

I think it's dead in the sense that new GBA games are going to be rare or nonexistent. But I really hope I'm wrong. There are many fantastic games for GBA. And the size and form factor of my SP are perfect; these aspects I prefer over my DS. I have the graphite model with the brighter screen, and couldn't be happier. Even considered buying another one as a spare. Long live the GBA...

The DS can play GBA games, I don't see why the GBA games have to stop comming. Not ever game needs touch or dual screen ability and I would imagine GBA games are cheaper to develop. I've probably bought more GBA games than I have DS games since my Ds was first purchased, and I allready owned a regular GBA.

@Ramen Junkie,
They'll stop because of a perceived inferiority. Developers are more likely just going to build it for the DS because more people will probably buy it. I'm much more likely to buy a DS game than a GBA title.

I still use the system quite a bit and have recently purchased a new backlit unit. I love my DS lite; but, I keep things like the bit generation games, warioware twisted, and a limited library of my GBA (and older) favorites around for a quick fix. It's just handy to keep a GBA loaded ready.
