Well, not being a console person, Guitar Hero for the DS intrigues me. I love Jam Sessions, and am open to whatever peripheral they use. We'll see ...

I'm a huge Guitar Hero fan, and a DS Fangirl to the core, so a combination of the both is a really exciting prospect.
I'm excited about the peripheral, but seeing as how the DS is portable (obviously), I'm hoping the peripheral will be a bit smaller than that clunky-ass plastic-Gibson that comes with the PS2 versions. Not only is the "fret board" on those two waaaaaay too thick for me to grasp completely (I'm a woman, so I have small hands), but it would be a ridiculous pain in the proverbial ass to try and lug one of those around with my DS.
I'm really hoping they'll take those of us with smaller hands into consideration with this, but other than that, I'm completely and utterly stoked about the prospect of GH:DS.

i don't see how they can pull this off. its a portable device, so a peripheral is just going to add bulk, which is going to add me not playing it. also the ds, as much as i love it, does not have the memory for a game like guitar hero. is it going to be midi's of the songs? maybe this will be right for some people. but most of us play ds when waiting in the dr's office, riding on the subway, in school. i guess the point is i generally do not play the ds with sound. i just dont think this is a fit for a portable device.

Henrie -- what the hell kind of DS fan are you? You only play when out of the house? O_O I think you had better correct your statement, as I can pretty much guarantee that the majority of DSFanboy readers play their DS at home as much as they do when out of the house. I'm also willing to bet that whatever peripheral comes with the Guitar Hero DS will probably be smaller than the PS2 versions, as I can't see Vicarious Visions being that foolish to not make the peripheral at least somewhat portable.
As for song quality and memory capacity: the DS has the sound and memory capability to run Guitar Hero without question. But think about it: Guitar Hero is not that graphic heavy, so the resources that would normally be taken up by graphic intensity can be used for the songs.
Also, there are already games that are going to be using extended cartridges with larger memory capacity due to sheer game size, so if there is a problem with sound quality or lack of memory, they can always go that route.
Honestly, the peripheral is the one and only failure they may need to worry about, but if they use any brains at all, there shouldn't be a problem.

When I heard about this I got rather excited. Likely, the peripheral they use would connect with the Slot-2 port, like Arkanoid and that "move-around-on-the-table" game. Has Nintendo fully phased out all support for DS Phat units? Because with the DS Lite I could easily see the entire DS plug into the peripheral, no longer than a foot, and you can bend the screen to a 90 degree angle so you can look down and see your fingers and the screen. In my head, it's a lap-game. Headphones are likely going to be a must for this game. And there's no need to cut out all the graphics--I can envision an animated style (like the console version's intro vid) much like Elite Beat Agents. Anyway, I'm excited to hear more, and I hope some more folks actually stay on topic rather than whining about how the PS2/XB360/Wii/PS3 != DS. We know already, get over it.

Guitar Hero! woohoo! i'm going to enjoy this no matter what unless they have a bunch of crap songs like on jam sessions. Hopefully the peripheral isnt to small, maybe keep the buttons the same size just make the rest of it smaller. graphics wont matter too much as long as the songs and sound are good. i mean people play NES looking games on there ds, they want fun not graphics. Hopefully this comes out soon because the third one (on the consoles) well only hold me over for so long knowing a ds version is coming out!

I would love this soooo much, especially the peripheral. However, I would only like the peripheral if it was optional. At home I would DEFINITELY play all the time using a guitar, but on the go there's no way I'd bring a 'guitar'.

i think they are making WAY too many guitar games.
Its soo pointless!
But with the DS? thats going too far!
Instead of making these guitar games on the ds, they should work on Metroid: Dread!

You want Activision to make a Metroid game? Pass.
Anyway, I'm always up for a new rhythm game, and I'm always up for an interesting peripheral. I'd love to see what Activision and Neversoft can come up with. I think DS peripherals are fun. The Arkanoid paddle controller makes me giggle when I think about it. Yay!

To me the entertainment of guitar hero is the coop play, so having it on a single player device like the DS seems wonky. I probably would not get it

Why would you not at least try this?? i mean come on! Guitar hero is amazing and so is the DS. Why would you not want to play guitar hero wherever you go? if you are worried about people staring at you for lugging around a (hopefully) smaller version of a gh controller, why be embarrassed that you are a gamer?
