If you visit this site often, you've probably come to realize that we're big fans of
Phoenix Wright. Later this month, we'll be able to play the next installment in the
Ace Attorney games, this time starring
Apollo Justice. If you're as impatient as us, though, you might want to check out this interview at Siliconera, which reveals some more information about the title. Spencer Yip questions
Apollo's product marketing manager, Colin Ferris, who manages to tease us even more about the game.
One thing Ferris was pretty clear on is that there are no plans to bring the series to the Wii. After playing
Harvey Birdman, we think the adventure game would fit well on the console, as much as we love it on our handhelds. How about you guys, though? Do you think the game should stick to the DS, or would you like to see it cross platforms at some point?

Dude, you just said what everyone else was thinking but afraid to say. That's why I chose Cooking Mama 2 over Ghost Squad last week *^_^*

I think this would be a perfect series to bring to the Wii. I love it on my DS, and I think that the functionality and increased memory would open the game up a bit. It's already very deep, as it is, but it would be great to see deeper plot lines and bigger stories told. Plus, they could alter the lines the case takes by offering different ways to get to an innocent verdict, which would increase it's replay value.
Plus, I think this series calls for some outstanding voice acting. The Wii would present it's own programming challenges for this series, but I think Capcom would reap the rewards of it.

I personally think the series should stay on the DS. It is strange, off-the-beaten-path titles like this and others on the DS that convinced me to buy the system in the first place. If the DS is the only place where you can play a lawyer simulation game, then the curious masses will slowly come to join our ranks to reap the benefits of Phoenix Wright.

I don't know whether the wii version was good, but the psp version of harvey birdman sucked balls. and was more of a movie. Plus pr0n was not funny.

I have to agree, I didn't think Harvey Birdman was that great. The same hit-or-miss humor which I don't mind watching on TV, but to play a game which is little more than interactive TV is pretty lame.
I thought Phoenix Wright on the Wii would be interesting as long as it is animated better with great voice actors... but I'm also fine with it staying on the DS

I'm happy with the Ace Attorney games staying on the DS. I was introduced to the games as a sort of interactive novel of sorts. Novels, much like the DS are better when portable. (who'd read a book that was duct taped to the tv?)
I'd only be interested in a Wii version if and only if, objections were activated by moving the remote down and then quickly up into a pointing pose..... Since it would be played at home, I want to look as foolish as possible.

I don't see a console port necessary. The games work great on the DS and were clearly designed around playing in short bursts.
If there's one thing we've learned from Sony's mistakes its that hand held to console ports never really work out. I say, keep it on the DS. Its better for the involved platforms and the franchise.

Would love the reference book if they brought it over here...
Or at least the Music CD!
I agree. It fits the DS very well but not a console. Like a mystery book.
Even with the mess from the last promotion did order the Apollo Justice along with the keychain... Hope it arrive quicker than the last one!
And yes I have the Manga on order....

I would rather, if it went to a console, that it be something like an interactive Ace Attorney anime, something bulging with FMV's to center the game around. Kinda like hentai erogames, but obviously more appropriate for a broader audience

There could be a lot of potential for a Wii Versions. Obviously, the gestures would be cool to use (who wouldn't want to strike a pose and yell "Objection!"). There could also be some cross-platform stuff (if Nintendo ever gets that figured out), like having hints on the DS screen or something like that.
One thing I do want to see out of the series though, is that I want it to not be so linear. For example, there could be different paths based on what evidence you find (this could be based off of some time element, or maybe just player choice), and which statements you press and which evidence you present. One thought that I did have was that Capcom could even allow for the player to lose a case and still advance, having the future stories change based on the verdicts received. This would be great for re-playability.
