If our incessant bleating about the greatness of Professor Layton and the Curious Village hasn't already caused you to crack and buy the game, then we're hoping these videos might be the final straw. Featuring the first four puzzles from the game (conundrums that range from easy to fairly testing), they do a pretty good job of representing how difficult the game is.* Needless to say, these contain spoilers.
After the break: another two puzzles, and a direct-feed version of the intro to this marvelous game. You're weakening! Admit it! Give in to Professor Layton's puzzley pleasures!
* So long as you don't count that accursed puzzle featuring the dog made from matchsticks which is then run over.

I've already caved thanks to DS fanboy. It's in my DS lite right now. I love it, but I hate the math problems. I suck at those.

I was considering picking this up since you guys mention it so often.. but sadly, these videos were a turn off. Seems like a game I could get through too quickly and then never touch it again. Sowwy.
(How do I make an account for these Fanboy Sites? Not sure where to ask.)

I played through like the first 2 or 3 puzzles only before making dinner last night, so my husband picked it up and started his own game. He got to that matchstick dog and just got so frustrated and brought the DS over to me and I got it immediately (though I admit, it's stupid), but now I'm having trouble on some of the others that he finds stupidly easy.

Oh I'll pick it up, once I play through some of the other games I have piled up. I'm starting to develop a backlog, it's frightening.

This game is pretty sweet, although I see how someone might stop playing after a while. The constant stylus-searching for the accursed hint coins is a bit tiring, and some of the puzzles are really... abstract, but if you love puzzles in general, this game is a must-have.
PS. I solved two of the puzzles using my trusted C++ compiler ;D Is that considered cheating? :)

I would have this game already if I hadn't sworn off buying any new games until I finish FFX and have milked Brawl for all I can.
In short, I probably won't be getting it until Christmas...:(

This game is incredible. The atmosphere and Euro-anime style is reason enough to play it. The soundtrack is incredibly evocative and catchy. The puzzles get very challenging (like loose-leaf-sheets-of-paper-covered-in-numbers-and-grids challenging).
Sure, if you don't like puzzles and brain-teasers it's not for you. Sure, if you don't like free-roaming environments it's not for you. Sure, if you need a gun in a game to play it it's not for you. But everyone else should buy this game INSTANTLY!
